- Solid understanding of technical SEO fundamentals (e.g. client-server interactions, HTTP status codes, crawling / rendering / indexing processes, HTML and CSS)
- Willingness to adopt the necessary skills to create an efficient working environment, e.g. Zapier automation, SQL, Tableau, JavaScript, to apply automations or pull data from APIs, Google Sheets / Excel
- Experienced user of common SEO tools (e.g. Search Console, ahrefs, NeuronWriter, Screaming Frog, Sistrix)
- Native German and full professional English proficiency, both spoken and written to communicate efficiently in our international working environment
What the job involves
- We are currently expanding our SEO team, and are looking for a Head of SEO to help us take our business to the next level
- The SEO and YouTube team is responsible for our performance in the organic search engine and YouTube results across all markets and verticals (Website Builder, Hosting, Solar…) that betterbusiness operates in
- This happens in close collaboration with other teams in the company, e.g. Partner management, Content, Performance marketing, LeadGen, Dev and Data
- We have a strong focus on data and technology, i.e. we rely on data to form hypotheses and build our business cases
- We always strive to employ scalable solutions that can be rolled out across all markets and verticals and collect the data points to assess their effectiveness and constantly learn and improve
- This role is an opportunity to have a unique impact on the way we scale, and a chance to build the next version of our SEO team
- We are looking for an experienced leader with recent hands-on Technical SEO experience that can design and execute the global SEO strategy, while deliberately building the necessary skillset of existing team members, and selectively hiring for talent that will propel the success of the entire unit
- Take full ownership of SEO and YouTube across 5+ countries and 6 platforms
- Develop, monitor and report the necessary KPIs to make our SEO and YouTube success transparent
- Drive the development of our internal SEO and YouTube tooling and reporting setup based on our internal tracking and attribution tool, internal content management tool, Snowplow and Tableau
- Define our SEO strategy in alignment with our ROI goals and drive its execution from start to finish
- Live full ownership with your SEO/YouTube teammates in our teal organization , i.e. foster a culture of transparency, continuous learning and development, while ensuring that team health is stable or growing
- Implement SEO features and tools in close collaboration with the dev team
- Stay up to date with the latest developments in SEO and YouTube (Google Updates, SERP features, SGE, etc.), assess their impact on our strategy and take action accordingly
