Who you are
- BS degree in Computer Science or Engineering
- Minimum 4 years of C++ programming experience with a solid foundation in data structures
- Expert knowledge and implementation of the C++17 standard
- Expert at developing with libraries such as Boost, QT, VTK or ITK
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
- Passion for writing clean high-quality code
- Desire to actively participate in the code review process as a reviewer and reviewee
- Ability to take ownership over projects and be self-directed on what needs to happen next
- Experience with mobile development frameworks (Swift/Kotlin/Flutter) is an asset
- Strong communication skills with both engineers and people without a technical background
What the job involves
- This is a one-year fixed-term contract with a strong likelihood of extension upon meeting project deliverables
- Clarius Mobile Health is looking for a Software Developer to contribute to a special project focused on expanding access to ultrasound technology while continuing to advance our next-generation innovations
- Over the next 12 months, you will help grow our App Development Team and contribute to building the next generation of our mobile applications
- You’ll work across multiple engagements simultaneously, adapting to evolving project needs while collaborating closely with key stakeholders and cross-functional development teams
- In this role, you will support cloud-based initiatives and mobile application development, ensuring the delivery of high-quality solutions that meet the highest industry standards for technical certification
- Your contributions will be instrumental in advancing our mobile apps and robust cloud infrastructure, ultimately helping to bring cutting-edge medical technology to more users worldwide
- Develop and deploy C++ applications in compliance with medical device quality standards
- Design, modify and implement software applications from functional and system design specifications
- Develop and deliver cross-platform applications that span across iOS, Android, and other platforms as necessary
- Develop systems to maintain, analyze and improve the performance, integrity, and reliability of new and existing applications
- Investigate and fix problems with production systems
- Construct experiments and analyze data to identify ways to improve technical performance, ensuring that results are valid and reproducible
- Communicate technical knowledge to both technical and non-technical audiences
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define, design, develop and release new features
- Ensure all apps meet the technical standards set by our industry
- Document designs in engineering documents, including functional block diagrams and data/logic flow charts
- Mentor junior developers to help them grow their experience and knowledge
Our take
The big issue with handheld ultrasound isn't the device - it's reading the images. These tools are now portable and affordable enough for everyday use, but interpreting blurry, grayscale scans (especially of complex organs like the heart) still requires specialist training. So that leaves many primary care doctors relying on referrals, which can slow down diagnosis for common but serious issues.
Clarius Mobile Health builds handheld ultrasound devices paired with AI software to tackle this issue and interpret scans in real time. Its T-Mode feature splits the screen to show both the standard image and a color-coded, labeled version, making anatomy much easier to understand. Clarius has expanded this across multiple use cases and developed 16 AI models (6 FDA-cleared), with its devices used for nearly 7M scans worldwide.
This is obviously a huge deal, the company unsurprisingly reached profitability in 2025 and reported around 20% growth, while expanding to more than 70 countries. Its focus on making ultrasound easier to use (not just more portable) puts it in a very good position for the future. If this kind of adoption continues, it could help turn ultrasound into a routine tool in everyday primary care.
