What the job involves
- We’re searching for a new Head of Risk reporting directly to the Managing Director, Debt, Risk & Balance Sheet Management (DBRSM)
- We're embedding a cultural shift where the way we view risk and controls is insightful, real-time, and drives tangible actions to improve our risk and control environment. You'll play a key role in taking this forward
- Responsible for the delivery of end-to-end risk management framework and enterprise wide risk assessment and controls for CIB, for all financial and non-financial risks, working closely with and utilising the shared service teams led by the BCB & CIB Risk & Controls Director
- Deliver effective risk governance: ensure CIB operates within group and divisional risk appetite, robust risk and product governance committees are in operation, an effective control and policy framework is embedded and RCSA is fully adopted across the entire customer journey, proactively driving the cultural shift needed for accountability across the CIB business
- Support delivery of CIB's strategic objectives through proactive identification and mitigation of emerging and strategic risks and drive the transition towards automated controls, leveraging data analytics and technology solutions to improve controls and testing
- Ensure comprehensive risk assessments are conducted on all strategic change led by CIB, embedding control by design principles as standard and embed robust risk based assurance testing, root cause analysis for material events/incidents and an effective conflict management framework, ensure fair customer outcomes, enhancing Conduct Risk Appetite Metrics (CRAMS) and aligning with Consumer Duty and other requirements
- Enable compliance with regulations, considering the impact of the evolving regulatory environment and implementing appropriate controls and act as Speak Up Officer and Conflicts Officer for CIB
- Lead all aspects of improvements to Trade Controls, monitoring the efficiency of controls and MI regarding Inappropriate or Unauthorised trading and raising key issues and themes to ensure both regulatory and internal requirements are met
- Support and provide guidance to Business & Commercial Banking (BCB) and CIB business areas in handling Cross Border risk when looking after clients incorporated outside of the UK and make sure we adhere to the Ring Fence perimeter and continued compliance with Ring Fencing
