Role
Who you are
- We have an immediate opening for a Staff Software Engineer, with a proven track record of success to join our rapidly growing team
- 10+ years of experience
- Must be hands-on and coding 80% of time with strong engineering fundamentals
- Experience working in agile, fast-paced environments
- Experience working with large amounts of data and designing scalable backend systems for high throughput
- Experience with modern frontend frameworks/libraries such as React, Angular, or Vue.js
- Track record of launching and iterating on apps or large software projects
- Recruiting experience (sourcing, interviewing, offering, etc) is ideal
- Full-stack engineering background
- Django, Python, React & React Native are preferred and nice-to-have to optimize ramp up time
What the job involves
- This person will be a critical member of the FAST Engineering team in San Francisco, and is responsible for working in a product team building new features and products across web and mobile
- All of the engineers work across the full stack, so we take special care to make the experience as seamless and productive as possible
- You will contribute to our process by developing best practices/conventions, tooling, and evaluating new libraries/technologies
- Develop 0-1 products and high velocity features on web and mobile
- Act as a tech lead for larger projects

Instawork hosts an online marketplace that connects gig workers with local businesses across a variety of sectors including healthcare, hospitality, and warehouse work. Workers are paid hourly upon completion of a gig, at which point both the employer and worker themselves can provide feedback on the experience.
Whilst the startup faces competition within this gig-work industry, Instawork holds a smart focus on providing reliable and short-notice workers for businesses that need them. Gigs can be arranged within just a few hours of notice, and any employer or employee who cancels a job will be temporarily suspended in order to improve job success rates. Instawork's 2023 Series D funding is accelerating its AI capabilities and expanding its presence within staff distribution centres for some of the American continent's largest retailers and sports stadiums.
