Role
Who you are
- If you are passionate about tackling complex challenges, thrive in a fast-paced, iterative environment, and have a knack for breaking down intricate problems, we think you’ll be a great fit
- Available and willing to travel (up to 2 weeks, twice a month) onsite with customers, to build custom features
- 6+ years of hands-on programming experience with at least one modern language such as Python, Go, or Elixir
- Strong experience with both front-end (e.g., React, JavaScript, TypeScript) and back-end (e.g., Node.js, Python, Elixir) technologies
- Solid understanding of full-stack architecture and how to interact with the latest AI models, and utilize the strengths of the models
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a proven ability to decompose complex issues and drive innovation
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a team, translating technical concepts for diverse audiences
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, iterative development environment
- 6+ years of experience in designing and contributing to large-scale distributed systems and AI-driven applications
- Proficiency in Python and its application in AI-driven full-stack systems
- Exceptional writing abilities for creating and optimizing prompts for generative AI models
- Experience with deploying, monitoring, debugging, and evaluating AI agents in production environments
What the job involves
- Podium is looking for a talented Generative AI Engineer with expertise in building agentic applications using large language models (LLMs)
- In this role, you will be joining a team of smart and dedicated AI engineers tasked with empowering local businesses by creating AI agents that efficiently handle customer interactions to optimize operations and reclaim valuable time
- Develop and deploy full-stack AI-driven applications powered by large language models to automate interactions and manage leads for local businesses
- Design, implement, and maintain both the front-end and back-end of scalable systems that integrate AI technologies
- Work through the entire development lifecycle—from architecture to deployment—ensuring seamless integration of AI solutions
- Engage in rapid prototyping and iterative development to refine both AI and platform features based on user feedback and real-world performance
- Implement systems to monitor and evaluate AI agents in production, ensuring reliability and optimal user satisfaction
- Stay current with industry trends in generative AI and full-stack development, applying cutting-edge research to practical business solutions

Podium’s customer messaging platform offers small to medium-sized local businesses a range of solutions for communicating with their customers. The tool helps them to attract reviews, gain feedback, operate webchat as well as manage marketing campaigns and payments.
Since its 2014 launch, the company has evolved from an early focus on customer reviews to cover payment and messaging solutions. With a focus on SMS communications, it's already powering over 100,000 businesses in the US such as La-Z-Boy, Trane Technologies, Zerorez, Ken Garff Auto Group, and Rotmans. Its most recent valuation put Podium at over $3 billion.
Podium is continuing to come out with new services, including the full payments offering with the launch of card readers and a new campaign marketing solution. Its foray into payments has gone better than planned, perhaps unsurprisingly so considering the forced shift to mobile and digital payments in recent years.
