What the job involves
- The Lead Ecosystem Solutions role at ubitricity is responsible for setting and communicating a clear ecosystem vision and strategy that aligns customer needs with business and operational priorities
- It acts as the central driver of cross-functional alignment between Product Managers, Software, Hardware, as well as commercial and operations teams to ensure cohesive development of our Software tooling landscape
- Through strong leadership and a focus on performance, scalability, and cost effectiveness, the role steers the evolution of our ecosystem and empowers teams to deliver high-quality, future-ready solutions
- Product Strategy & Roadmap
- Define and implement the strategic direction for the ubitricity ecosystem, ensuring it supports the company vision and broader business goals
- Establishes strategy including creation and execution of roadmaps focused on achieving cost leadership, scalability, and flexibility in key areas such as:
- Charge Point Management System (CPMS) and related applications, including EV Driver-facingapplications
- Automation and digitalization initiatives
- Business Intelligence (BI), monitoring, and data analytics
- Network Planning
- Develop and enforce Network Planning frameworks and models, provide data and tooling landscape to maximize utilization, while ensuring scalability and cost-effectiveness
- Market & Customer Insights
- Create and maintain insights into market developments as well as customer needs
- Translate these into the product strategy and roadmap, ensuring a competitive and compelling offering for customers and drivers
- Performance and Lifecycle Management
- Responsible for daily management and further development of central ecosystem components, such asCPMS, Automation and digitalization, Business Intelligence and Network Planning tools
- Analyze and manage performance of ecosystem components (e.g., availability, error rates, charging success). Identify operational improvement needs and derive technical and process optimization measures
- Work closely with Hardware and Software solution teams to prioritize and implement enhancements
- Drive forward empowerment of users to effectively use the ecosystem components to reach the company’s ambition for performance, scalability, quality and cost leadership
- Cross-functional Leadership
- Serve as the primary contact for all Ecosystem Solutions topics
- Drive cross-functional alignment between Product Managers, Software, and Hardware teams
- Collaborate closely with our Commercial and Operations teams, ensuring business and operational requirements are translated into technical specifications— and vice versa
- Ensure that also our external partners and suppliers contribute to meeting the company’s ambitions on performance, quality, cost, and scalability
- Resource and Cost Management
- Manage budgets and PoS costs related to CPMS, Telecommunications, Automation and Digitalization, Business Intelligence and Network Planning activities, ensuring efficient allocation and use of financial resources
- Conduct cost-benefit analyses for technical and operational initiatives
- Team Leadership and Development
- Foster a culture of innovation, collaboration, and high performance, following ubitricity’s leadership principles
- Implement corporate objectives by setting and managing departmental goals and assigning targets to employees
- Ensure compliance with internal processes, including Goals and Performance Appraisals and salary revisions
- Support employee development and encourage independent problem-solving
- Maintain information flow within the team, between teams, and with management

Our take
Accounting for $16.6 billion dollars, the electric car charging industry is of growing importance to both the environmental and economic sectors. With sustainable energy now much cheaper than gas, fossil fuel leaders have much more incentive to invest in sustainable energy than ever before.
And that's exactly what Shell appears to be doing. Investing around $3 billion dollars a year in sustainable energy, Shell at least looks like its taking steps to cut down its fossil fuel reliance, despite still profiting heavily off the mining of fossil fuels. Ubitricity, a global software and hardware provider for electric car charging stations, is one of these investments.
Having gained partnerships with the likes of Siemens, who have a minority stake in the company, Ubitricity transforms streetlamps into charging stations for cars and is making headway most notably in the UK. Its acquisition by Shell indicates a strategy by large fossil fuel companies to have more influence in the sustainability sector. The results of this remain to be seen, but Ubitricity has proved itself to be an important part of global transitions away from fossil fuels.
