Role
Who you are
- Experience of managing diverse and complex events
- Good working knowledge of events production, venues, catering, events fundraising mechanisms, potential suppliers etc
- Track record of delivering against budget targets and working with financial processes
- Project management skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and collaborate across teams
- Excellent relationship management skills with experience building and developing relationships with internal and external stakeholders
- Excellent time management skills with the ability to work within a fast-moving environment, identifying and responding appropriately to changing priorities and meeting tight deadlines
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to interact with people at all levels and inspire and motivate support
- Experience of problem solving and working on own initiative
- Excellent IT and administrative skills including experience of using stakeholder databases, event ticketing platforms and Microsoft Office Suite
What the job involves
- We are looking for a Special Events Coordinator to join our Fundraising team
- Hours: 35 per week (standard Anthony Nolan working hours)
- You will project manage a diverse programme of events, including high-value stewardship and cultivation events, high-value income generating events and educational and engagement events to our clinical audiences
- You will act as a point of contact for a number of teams in the organisation, providing support and expertise
- You will also manage a number of key external supplier relationships with the possibility of growing and owning relationships with high-value volunteers
- Collaborate with colleagues across departments to plan, market, produce and deliver a successful programme of events which meet agreed objectives, budgets and KPIs
- Manage all aspects of each event including administrative, financial, logistical and communication processes, maintaining accurate records, delivering excellent customer care, and ensuring events run efficiently and professionally
- Develop and maintain relationships with event attendees, internal and external stakeholders, volunteers, suppliers, sponsors and partners to build long-term support
- Work with the wider team to deliver the current plans and budgets and contribute to the development of future plans and budgets
- Ensure accurate financial record keeping (recording and tracking all income and expenditure)
- Managing all aspects of fundraising at income generating events where necessary e.g. identifying fundraising mechanisms, sourcing prizes etc
- Working with the internal teams to produce all design materials and communication campaigns
- Writing and producing comprehensive briefings for external suppliers, high-profile speakers, senior staff and volunteers
- Evaluating and reporting on the success of each event and considering areas of improvement for future event planning
- Work with and possibly manage high value volunteers and external committees to develop events income and prospect streams

Founded in 1974 to find bone marrow donors for people suffering with blood cancer, Anthony Nolan is today one of Britain's largest recruiters of stem cell donors, along with DKMS, the Welsh Blood Service and NHS Blood and Transplant. As only one in four people with blood cancer will find a compatible donor in their family, Anthony Nolan's work saves over 1,000 lives a year worldwide.
Aside from recruiting donors, Anthony Nolan conducts research through the Anthony Nolan Research Institute, with its findings reducing post-transplant complications and increasing quality of life for patients. It also maintains the UK's first dedicated cord blood bank which allows new mothers to donate their umbilical cords for research.
Despite significant advances in blood cancer tratment since Anthony Nolan's founding, there's still a critical shortage of donors, sworsened by a sharp declinesiunce 2019. To combat this, the charity is actively raising awareness of this issue and is also set to open a new stem cell donation centre at Queen's Medical Centre in Nottingham to further help address the gap.
