Who you are
- This role is a great fit if you care about clean UX even in utility-driven environments, enjoy working closely with backend and platform engineers, and want to make a direct impact on the scalability and efficiency of a fast-growing fintech company
- A university degree in a relevant field of study (e.g., computer science, engineering) or a comparable qualification
- 3+ years of frontend experience in technologies like Typescript, React, NextJs, Cypress, WebPack, Material Design, Express, HTML5, CSS3
- A strong passion for outstanding UI/UX, web performance, and accessibility
- Ability to think outside the box and to work independently
- Analytical proficiency, both in the technical and in the product domain
- Excellent communication skills that are clear, concise, and targeted towards your audience - engineering, product, or other stakeholders
- Practical experience in AWS or another cloud provider
- Professional proficiency in English
What the job involves
- As a Frontend Engineer, you will be a key member of one of our product teams responsible for designing and building powerful, intuitive UIs that support critical back-office processes, from transaction monitoring to corporate action workflows and operational dashboards
- Our frontend stack is built on React and TypeScript, with strong foundations in component reuse, design systems, and testable architecture
- While these applications aren’t customer-facing, they are essential to delivering high-quality service to our clients
- You’ll collaborate closely with internal stakeholders to understand complex workflows and translate them into well-structured, maintainable user interfaces
- You work with cutting-edge technologies and participate in modern software development practices (e.g., agile and self-managed teams, continuous integration and deployment, test automation, cloud-based infrastructure, and tooling)
- Engage with our cloud-native, DevOps-enabled infrastructure, utilizing AWS services like ECS, Fargate, and Lambda
- You write clean, testable, maintainable, and well-documented code and treat security as a first-class citizen
- You bring products to production and reveal real business value
- You can improve engineering excellence in the team
Our take
Interest around investing in digital assets is increasing steadily due to innovations in fintech smartphone applications and the popularity of blockchain finance such as cryptocurrency. While stocks and cryptocurrency have a lot to do with this increase in popularity, it has also led to new investors learning about ETFs and index funds, meaning more people are looking for easier ways to invest.
Scalable Capital provides a free smartphone application for the investing and trading of stocks, cryptocurrencies, commission-free ETFs, and index funds, with subscription fees providing commission-free stock trading. The application also features a machine learning-driven robotrading service called Smart Predict to aid in improving users' limit and stop orders.
Whilst several other European investment platforms focus on commission-free trading, Scalable Capital has taken a fresh perspective by focusing on providing commission-free ETF investment. By doing this, the company encourages smart long-term ETF investments over riskier day-trading, tapping into a more mature market than applications focused on stocks. With further growth expected in 2024 after impressive Series E funding, Scalable Capital is carving out its market share.
