Who you are
- While tech isn’t everything, we are looking for someone who brings strong frontend skills and a collaborative mindset to the table:
- Experience with React — including Hooks and advanced state management
- Proficiency in TypeScript and modern JavaScript (ES6+)
- Familiarity with modern rendering strategies like SSR, SSG, and CSR
- Comfortable with data fetching tools like Axios and React Query, form management with React Hook Form, and styling using Tailwind CSS
- Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and automation tools like GitHub Actions or equivalents
- Fluency in English
Desirable
- Experience with performance optimization and modern testing tools (e.g., Playwright, Vitest)
- Understanding of core concepts like closures, prototypes, and async programming
- Experience in applying these concepts effectively using frameworks like Next.js
- Experience in implementing localization and internationalization strategies
- Proficiency in Figma and committed to maintaining a shared Storybook design system
What the job involves
- As a Senior Frontend Engineer, you’ll help shape how users interact with our platform to make buildings more energy efficient. Here’s what your day-to-day might look like:
- Collaborate with Product Owners and Designers to transform user needs into elegant, performant interfaces
- Build, test, and maintain modern frontend components using React, TypeScript, and Storybook — with a strong focus on reusability, accessibility, and performance
- Take part in product discovery and design iterations by giving feedback early, challenging assumptions, and proposing improvements
- Pair-program and mentor other engineers, fostering a culture of learning, feedback, and high standards
- Write meaningful, testable code following clean code principles, and participate in thoughtful code reviews
- Continuously deliver small, incremental changes to production, and enhance features through rapid feedback cycles
- Improve frontend performance and maintainability, proactively identifying technical debt and refactoring when needed
- Core hours 9:30 AM to 4:00 PM
Our take
Research by the European Commission suggests that real estate is responsible for 35% of emissions and 40% of energy consumption, a figure only set to grow as countries scale their building projects in line with population increases. These figures mean that to achieve carbon neutrality goals, a rapidly growing number of buildings must be renovated over the next few decades.
Founded by members of the APX accelerator by Axel Springer and Porsche, Purpose Green utilises its founders' rich knowledge about the real estate market to decarbonise the real estate sector. Purpose Green compiles data overviews concerning a building’s energy-related construction and renovation requirements through 3D digital twins of properties. These provide a 360-degree overview of a property's energy status and the work needed to elevate its sustainability.
Working with both real estate portfolios and individual property owners, Purpose Green is currently focused on the German market, its 2024 seed funding allowing it to expand its presence there. Time will tell if the company can expand across the continent, but its steady growth and high-demand market mean it has made a promising start.
