Senior Software Engineer, Synctera

• 4-6+ years of professional work experience as a software engineer
• Experience with Go or a comparable structured and opinionated language
• Experience with PostgreSQL or other relational databases
• Experience with at least one major cloud provider, preferably Google Cloud
• Experience in using and creating RESTful APIs, which will be consumed by our frontend engineers and our customers

• Our platform is built in Go (for backend services) and React with Typescript (for the Synctera Console, our frontend). We’re built on top of Google Cloud Platform and typically use Postgres (Cloud SQL, AlloyDB), Redis (Cloud Memorystore), and Pub/Sub as our core application stack, with OpenAPI specifications being used to both document our API and be the foundation for inter-service communication
• Our infrastructure is predominantly a mixture of Kubernetes (Google Kubernetes Engine) and Cloud Run (Google’s serverless compute platform), with Terraform orchestrating infrastructure, and tools like Argo facilitating deployments
• As a software engineer on the Platform team, you will be a core contributor to Synctera’s foundational infrastructure
• This includes designing and building essential backend services, managing customer and internal-facing infrastructure, and developing sophisticated developer tooling
• The Platform team is indispensable to engineering, establishing the architecture and providing the robust services that enable all product teams to ship new features reliably and efficiently. You will frequently collaborate with product teams, occasionally embedding with them to provide deep systems expertise for complex feature development
• This is a high-autonomy role that requires a curious, adaptable, and highly motivated individual
• You will navigate cross-functional product and engineering initiatives, serve as the primary escalation point for all infrastructure-related queries, and proactively drive robust solutions that improve systems across multiple teams
• Design, enhance, and maintain Synctera’s Google Cloud and CI/CD infrastructure
• Build and maintain scalable, reliable backend services in Go (Golang)
• Build and evolve platform tooling that improves reliability and the internal developer experience
• Participate in an on-call rotation to ensure platform stability and reliability
• Help define and drive Synctera’s infrastructure and developer experience roadmap
• Work across engineering teams to support shared platform needs and act as an escalation point for infrastructure-related questions
• Find cleaner, simpler ways to solve technical problems and improve existing systems
• Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to solve engineering problems
• Partner with Product and Engineering teams to understand complex financial services challenges and design solutions
• Identify and implement process improvements and development best practices that raise the bar for quality and efficiency
• Advocate for and mentor software engineers in development best practices, fostering skill and knowledge-sharing across the team
