Who you are
- The role needs an individual that is familiar with what a good Finance function looks and feels like, has a controls-based mindset who is as comfortable working on accounting detail as with taking a broader view of the business and working closely with a variety of different teams and systems in a scale-up environment
- This is a perfect opportunity for someone eager to begin a long and successful career in Finance
- Qualification in accounting or similar with 1 year post qualification experience. A working knowledge of current accounting principles is essential (ACA / CA / CIMA)
- Excellent written and oral skills
- Proficient with Microsoft Office (Excel)
- Experience with accounting software (eg Xero) would be a significant advantage
What the job involves
- We are looking for a Management Accountant to join us here at SeedLegals
- Working alongside our experienced Finance Director, this is a broad role that will be across all details of the business, and a fantastic learning opportunity to be part of a high-growth scale up tech firm
- Managing the day-to-day finance operations, including accounting, payments and reconciling
- Leveraging your prior audit experience, helping prepare for our first-year audit, implementing a robust system of controls and monitoring procedures
- Supporting month end close and the production of comprehensive management accounts, KPIs, as well as year-end statutory accounts. Preparing month end journals for several global entities
- Assisting in the preparation and maintenance of quarterly cost base analyses and forecast modelling
- Working with RevOps to analyse and track financial performance, investigating exceptions and variances to budget
- Continually looking to improve our financial processes and reporting as we expand into adjacent markets and new regions, including the identification and mitigation of financial risk
- Forging strong relationships across the business and collaborating in decision support across sales, customer support and operations

- 2nd stage: 1 hour interview with our ExCo: 30 minutes with one of our Founders & 30 minutes with our CEO

Increasing numbers of startups are getting funded in the UK and all require legal help with their financing.
SeedLegals identified a big burning pain: no founder wants to handle a bad fundraising experience because of legals. Previously founders would have to pay a decent chunk of the money they've just worked hard to raise, but the SeedLegals platform has provided a step change in cost.
The focus on a very specific niche (startups) has meant they have built a very tailored product, and word of mouth within startups is strong.
While they primarily focus on helping companies with fundraising, they also offer additional services (e.g. option schemes), and they're in a strong position to expand their offering to other legal needs.
