Who you are

Master's or Ph.D. in Computer Science, Machine Learning, or equivalent experience
4+ years of experience in machine learning engineering or applied machine learning
3+ years of experience with Python and ML frameworks such as PyTorch or TensorFlow
1+ years of experience with LLM architectures, training methodologies, and evaluation metrics
1+ years of experience with cloud computing platforms (e.g. GCP, AWS, etc.)
Strong knowledge of both classical machine learning and deep learning techniques
Solid understanding of statistical analysis and experimental design principles
Experience with LLM evaluation frameworks and concepts (e.g. LLM-as-a-judge, ragas)
Experience with prompt engineering and fine-tuning LLMs
Proficiency with using Spark for large-scale data processing and analysis
Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with a strong focus on team success and customer impact

What the job involves

In this machine learning engineering role, you will design and build LLM-based agentic systems
You will also work with software engineers to integrate these systems with Workday and deploy them to scale
You will be part of a fast-paced team with a startup-like mentality
In the early stages of the project you will rapidly iterate on prototypes and proof-of-concepts, and in the later stages you will build robust, scalable solutions
Design and implement LLM agents and agentic systems
Enhance the system with planning, reasoning, and learning capabilities
Generalize the system capabilities to deliver value across multiple customers and use-cases at scale
Apply both traditional ML and deep learning to improve model quality
Build scalable ML pipelines and services for data preprocessing, feature engineering, training, and inference
Perform exploratory data analysis to uncover insights and inform feature engineering
Collaborate with software engineers, Workday app developers, product managers, and other ML teams
Take ownership for finding creative solutions that move projects forward
Write clean, maintainable, and testable code following best practices in software engineering, including automation, observability, and scalability
Conduct code reviews, participate in design discussions, and engage in collaborative team activities like hackathons and knowledge-sharing sessions
