Who you are

5+ years of experience building high volume backend systems in monolithic and/or distributed architectures
Experience building services and interfaces that provide foundational platform capabilities leveraged by internal and external developers
Demonstrated programming fluency with Java and Kotlin, Python, Typescript, Go and/or Rust is plus
Strong competencies in building applications leveraging various data persistence and transports systems including: RDBMS, NoSQL, Messaging Queues

What the job involves

As a Senior Backend Engineer within the Domain Services substream in Miro, you will be responsible for contributing to the technical strategy, implementing high impact core application capabilities, and collaborating with engineers and product managers to achieve our business critical goals
Domain Services touch everything we do in Miro and are a critical part of the evolution of our product
Maintain and evolve high volume, business critical applications
Work with senior leadership and architecture to build the next generation of core domain services
Collaborate on product and technical initiatives across the organization
Work with backend and infrastructure engineers across the organization to continuously improve code quality, system maturity and best practices

Our take

Millions of employees worldwide have moved to remote working, but existing tools are holding back the potential for collaboration. Tools such as Zoom and Microsoft Teams already provide remote communication platforms to millions of users, but they generally compromise on features required to emulate the team collaboration experience.

Miro has created a platform that provides enterprise tools such as collaborative whiteboards and mind-map software into an accessible and integrated service. As opposed to providing an 'all-in-one' add on, Miro allows businesses to customize and integrate the tools and resources within their individual platform to cater to the team's specific requirements.

Miro’s initial strategy of offering free and discounted subscriptions and then moving to paid models has paid off. The platform currently has over 100M users and is trusted by enterprises such as VMware, Zendesk and Frog. And as part of its ongoing battle with Zoom, Miro acquired video-chat startup Around in 2022, to remain competitive in the market.
