Role
Who you are
- This role requires a combination of leadership, legal expertise, and a deep understanding of organizational policies and laws
- 7+ years of legal experience, preferably in corporate law, employment law, or regulatory compliance
- Proven ability to manage legal risks and ensure corporate compliance in a dynamic, international environment
- Strong contract negotiation and drafting skills
- Expertise in employment law, corporate governance, and regulatory compliance
- Ability to work cross-functionally and provide strategic legal advice to business leaders
- Registered and qualified with the Chartered Institute of Legal Executives or equivalent legal accreditation
What the job involves
- The Legal Director is a leadership role responsible for overseeing all aspects of the organization's regulatory and legal requirements
- This position will report to the VP of Finance, based in Paris
- Provide expert legal advice on corporate, employment, and regulatory matters across the organization
- Ensure compliance with local, national, and international laws, including labor laws, data privacy regulations, and corporate governance
- Develop and maintain internal legal policies, ensuring they align with best practices and industry standards
- Monitor legal and regulatory changes, advising leadership on necessary adjustments to policies and operations
- Draft, review, and negotiate contracts, including employment agreements, vendor contracts, partnership agreements, and service-level agreements
- Ensure all contracts protect the company’s interests and comply with relevant legal requirements
- Collaborate with internal teams, such as Finance and Operations, to assess the legal implications of business agreements
- Identify potential legal risks and develop strategies to mitigate them
- Oversee any legal disputes, investigations, and litigation, working closely with external legal counsel when necessary
- Support internal teams in resolving employment law issues, compliance concerns, and corporate governance matters
- Advise on governance matters, ensuring the company adheres to legal and ethical standards
- Support board and executive leadership with legal insights related to corporate decisions and policies
- Conduct internal legal audits and implement best practices to strengthen regulatory compliance
- Work closely with HR, Finance, and Operations to align legal strategies with business needs
- Communicate legal policies and updates effectively to senior management and employees
- Act as a liaison with external legal counsel, government agencies, and industry bodies when required
