Who you are
- Do you love solving complex problems and interacting with people? Are you passionate about helping customers and are a standout colleague?
- You have previous experience working as part of a team in a customer-facing role
- You have experience solving DNS and other networking-related problems
- You understand how the Internet works
- You understand and have previous experience working with Identity and Access Management protocols and technologies (SSO, SAML, OAuth, Federation, SCIM, etc.)
- You understand and have previous experience supporting and troubleshooting multi-factor mechanisms (TOTP, SMS, FIDO, U2F, WebAuth, EMAIL, Push MFA, etc)
- You have experience working in a support role where you thrived every time you resolved a ticket
- You are comfortable communicating through various support channels and always put the customer first
- You are a motivated self-starter and always looking to expand your existing skillset
Desirable
- You are fluent in German, Japanese, French, Spanish, Portuguese, or Mandarin
- You are familiar with Cloudflare Zero Trust products (Zero Trust / Access / Gateway / Tunnel, WARP client) and have a site actively using our platform
- You have a solid grasp of problem-solving with command line tools (dig / traceroute / curl / tcpdump)
- You are familiar with Apache, Nginx, IIS, and other web servers
- You are committed to gaining a deeper understanding of the following technologies: Zero Trust / Secure Web Gateway policies / Endpoint protections / security best practices (Certificates, Zero Trust, least privileged access etc)
- You have worked with PostgreSQL, MySQL, MS SQL or other database servers

- Cloudflare is seeking a Technical Customer Support Engineer to join our team
- You will work with our customers on a variety of technical support issues as well as the Technical Operations team that is responsible for running our global distributed network
- This is a position where you will learn the inner workings of Cloudflare's technology and gain a deeper understanding of internet technologies

Our take
Cloudflare is a multi-service global network that provides web security and infrastructure, DDoS mitigation services, and a content delivery network. Founded in 2009, Cloudflare has risen to become an industry giant, with around 25 million global internet properties on its network.
Cloudflare has been responsible for a number of admirable initiatives, offering free web protection to human rights groups, journalists, artists, and US election websites. This goes some way to counteracting the flak Cloudflare has received in some circles for the controversial groups and users who use its services. This chequered history, however, has not affected its over 80% market share in the content delivery network field.
This is perhaps in part because it has proven sharp at staying abreast of the rapidly morphing tech and digital space and customer demands. For example, Cloudflare is shifting to 100% renewable energy usage to create a zero-emissions internet, and in 2020 released a feature that would help users navigate data privacy regulations by selecting where their data is stored.
The cloud infrastructure market reached $53 billion in 2022. While the Big 3 (Amazon, Microsoft, and Google) own 65% of the market, that still leaves billions of dollars left for companies such as Cloudflare. Its ambitious and successful work is likely to continue being a crucial feature of the web, but in 2023, placed it in the crosshairs of hackers looking to exploit its infrastructure. The beginning of 2024 saw Cloudflare vow to bolster its security and patch vulnerabilities.
