Role
Who you are
- Must have experience with finance systems and software (preferably SunFinance), an understanding of financial processes and regulations
- Must have experience in scoping and documenting finance system requirements
- A background in systems implementation or finance transformation projects
- Experience using Jira/Confluence (or other project management tools)
- Knowledge of SQL and eCommerce platforms
- An understanding of Sales Tax calculation and reporting processes
- Experience engaging with both technical and non-technical teams
What the job involves
- The Product Owner (Finance) reports to the Head of Product for our Operational teams
- You will act as the bridge between our Finance teams and IT, collaborating closely with subject matter experts (SMEs) across our Finance team and wider organisation to identify their needs, translating them into actionable requirements
- Your strategic oversight will create a robust finance systems roadmap, ensuring seamless system changes across the department
- This is a 12-month FTC
- Be the primary point of contact for the technology needs of the Finance team
- Work closely with the finance teams to gain an in-depth understanding of their business processes, guiding them through changes to systems
- Own the product roadmap for Finance that gives stakeholders across the business clarity on what will be delivered and when
- Identify and implement improvements to streamline processes, improve data accuracy, and enhance the user experience
- Coordinate with internal and external technical teams to develop, test, and deploy new features
- Managing small change initiatives and supporting product deployments
- Provide training, troubleshoot issues, and support end users to drive adoption and usage best practices

They have 2 million active customers worldwide, and have attracted high profile buyers including Kate Middleton, Michelle Obama, and Holly Willoughby.
Previously relying on catalogue sales, they were unable to achieve the real time responsiveness vital in today’s retail industry. As a result, in the past few years Boden’s heavily invested in modernising their IT systems and created a new way to capture data on their site. Having adapted to changing consumer behaviours, now 95% of their sales happen online, enabling them to compete with the growing number of eCommerce competitors like ME + EM and Mint Velvet.
This new digital approach has not been their only success in recent years. Traditionally, many UK retailers have failed to gain a foothold in the US. However, the company’s quintessential British branding has successfully set them apart, leading to Boden’s US sales already overtaking those in the UK and the business continues to grow faster there.
Moving forwards, Boden is overcoming a 2023 dip in sales triggered by an unneeded menswear revamp that lost sight of its core customer base. It is now reverting back to its classic formula and planning on further expansion in the US, determined to double sales in the next few years.
