- Significant experience working in internal communications in a multi-faceted organisation
- Experience of developing and delivering an internal communications strategy
- Exceptional project management and analytical skills
- Experience of overseeing in-house events for colleagues
- Confidence in hosting and presenting at staff events
- Great interpersonal skills, with strong experience of being collaborative and supportive, building strong relationships and influencing stakeholders
- Exceptional written and oral communication skills, experience as a copywriter is a plus
- Determination to deliver inspiring internal communications for colleagues and represent employee voice

What the job involves
- We are looking for an Internal Communications and Engagement Senior Manager to join our Communications and Engagement team
- It’s an exciting time at Anthony Nolan as our colleagues strive to deliver our ambitious plans to ensure more people with blood cancer and blood disorders survive and thrive
- We need a talented senior manager to shape, develop and lead our internal communications program to help inform and inspire staff around our strategic priorities, purpose, values and behaviours. With a creative and can-do attitude, you’ll enjoy exploring new ways to engage colleagues and have the curiosity and drive to spot and share stories
- You’ll be confident providing internal communications counsel to senior leaders and build excellent relationships with stakeholders at all levels. Your strong prioritisation skills will ensure you and your team effectively manage and develop our internal communications channels and lead our portfolio of all-staff events
- Bring significant experience of working in internal communications in a multi-faceted organisation and of developing and delivering an internal communications program
- Create the internal communications strategy and drive its execution, ensuring KPIs are met
- Act as strategic counsel and sounding board to the Senior Leadership Team, supporting them to deliver regular communications and activities
- Ensure the employee voice is represented and accessible for all colleagues
- Lead and develop your direct report, establishing the team as experts in internal communications
- Have brilliant stakeholder management skills and experience of working with colleagues at all levels from a range of disciplines
- Be a key member of the ambitious Communications and Engagement team, working collaboratively with colleagues and building relationships for success
- Create the internal communications strategy and drive its execution, ensuring KPIs are met
- Act as strategic counsel and sounding board to the Senior Leadership Team, supporting them to deliver regular communications and activities
- Keep up with the latest developments in internal communications practice
- Develop impactful plans to deliver Anthony Nolan’s announcements, strategic priorities, and milestones
- Spot great stories which engage and inspire staff
- Lead on the management of internal communications channels
- Deliver the all-staff events portfolio, including all-staff meetings and agenda for the summer briefing, including preparing briefings and scripts for speakers
- Create effective processes and procedures to ensure consistency across all internal communications
- Evaluate content performance and adjust plans accordingly
- Build positive relationships with a range of stakeholders, providing advice, guidance and expertise on internal communications
- Oversee the internal communications calendar and sequencing of staff messaging
- Line manage the Internal Communications Assistant
- Support the People Team and EDI Team with employee engagement through effective communications including for change programs, surveys, employer brand and employee engagement activities

Founded in 1974 to find bone marrow donors for people suffering with blood cancer, Anthony Nolan is today one of Britain's largest recruiters of stem cell donors, along with DKMS, the Welsh Blood Service and NHS Blood and Transplant. As only one in four people with blood cancer will find a compatible donor in their family, Anthony Nolan's work saves over 1,000 lives a year worldwide.
Aside from recruiting donors, Anthony Nolan conducts research through the Anthony Nolan Research Institute, with its findings reducing post-transplant complications and increasing quality of life for patients. It also maintains the UK's first dedicated cord blood bank which allows new mothers to donate their umbilical cords for research.
Despite significant advances in blood cancer tratment since Anthony Nolan's founding, there's still a critical shortage of donors, sworsened by a sharp declinesiunce 2019. To combat this, the charity is actively raising awareness of this issue and is also set to open a new stem cell donation centre at Queen's Medical Centre in Nottingham to further help address the gap.
