Role
Who you are
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent major
- 8+ years of experience engineering performant and high-throughput systems (ideally on Node.js)
- You write high quality code (ideally in TypeScript) and are uniquely productive
- You have a track record of building performant, high-throughput systems
- You have experience writing and debugging sql queries at scale
- You have experience developing event based systems
- You have experience with major cloud services (ideally AWS)
- You are an empathetic communicator
- You are comfortable with ambiguity and have consistently delivered projects with little direction
- You are product-minded and have a good intuition on what a great user experience looks like

- ClickUp is seeking talented engineers to help build our flagship product, Tasks
- Our team owns the APIs that form the backbone of ClickUp, so you’ll have the opportunity to have a huge impact
- We work on everything from creating new features (like enhancing task relationships and enabling deeper customization) to addressing performance challenges and ensuring operational excellence
- We’re looking for passionate engineers with exceptional critical thinking and technical skills to maintain, develop, and scale high-throughput services as the company grows rapidly
- The ideal candidate is excited by the challenge of architecting reliable, high-performance distributed systems, enjoys debugging and working with complex code, and thrives on maintaining a platform that powers the apps core functionality
- Build features and systems with attention to detail and performance
- Own end-to-end development, from conception to production
- Work closely with cross-functional stakeholders to deliver a world-class product
- Identify and implement improvements to our existing systems
- Help establish a fun, fulfilling, world-class engineering culture
Our take
Clickup provides a set of professional tools for collaborative project management, spreadsheets, document processing and workplace communication which are accessed from a single platform. In contrast to most of the austere, pared-back tools you might find in the workplace, it takes a playful approach, with its programs looking more like fun consumer-focused apps while still being fully-featured.
The company isn't alone in the workplace productivity market, counting Asana, Jira, Slack, and Monday among just a few of its competitors. However its advantage comes from its unified platform which encourages users to stay in ClickUp's ecosystem rather than look outside for other tools. Indeed, the vast majority of its users utilise three or more of its products. This has led to strong success in its market, with over 800,000 teams using the platform in enterprises such as IBM, logitech and Spotify.
ClickUp has been the beneficiary of a significant amount of investment, which it has used to develop its product and expand internationally. As it grows its footprint in Asia and Europe, where nearly half of its customers are based, it has also unveiled a new version of its platform which integrates AI writing and advanced search tools. The company is well poised to deliver on its vision of becoming the one app to replace them all.
