Role
Who you are
- 4+ years experience designing, implementing, integrating, and optimizing distributed data processing pipelines
- Experience writing high-quality data processing code in Go, Rust or other high-performance languages
- Experience building and administering alerting and monitoring systems around data processing pipelines
- Strong systems-level debugging
Desirable
- Affinity with the API Gateway or API Security space
- Prior experience in (Web) Security or HTTP protocols is a huge plus
- Knowledge and experience with productionizing machine learning and statistical models is valuable
- Knowledge and experience with columnar databases such as Clickhouse
- Experience building REST APIs for analytics services
- Experience with cluster and configuration management systems such as Docker, Salt and Kubernetes
- Familiarity writing and optimizing advanced SQL queries
- Familiarity with Python and Jupyter Notebooks
- Good Linux/UNIX systems knowledge

- You'll be part of a engineering team focused on building products that secure and manage our customers’ API traffic
- We are a group of experienced engineers and data scientists passionate about building new and scalable features for Cloudflare’s API Gateway
- You will build software systems that secure, monitor, and manage our customers’ API endpoints
- Cale will be always on your mind: our systems will run on thousands of machines all over the globe, processing trillions of requests per month
- Additionally, you’ll be tackling real-world security problems by leveraging the massive amounts of data and insights from Cloudflare’s entire network
- Helping build Cloudflare’s API Gateway will enable you to make a real and substantial impact on the global API and security landscape

Cloudflare is a multi-service global network that provides web security and infrastructure, DDoS mitigation services, and a content delivery network. Founded in 2009, Cloudflare has risen to become an industry giant, with over 25 million global internet properties on its network.
Cloudflare has been responsible for a number of admirable initiatives, offering free web protection to human rights groups, journalists, artists, and US election websites. This goes some way to counteracting the flak Cloudflare has received in some circles for the controversial groups and users who use its services. This chequered history, however, has not affected its over 80% market share in the content delivery network field.
This is perhaps in part because it has proven sharp at staying abreast of the rapidly morphing tech and digital space and customer demands. For example, Cloudflare is shifting to 100% renewable energy usage to create a zero-emissions internet, and in 2020 released a feature that would help users navigate data privacy regulations by selecting where their data is stored.
And impressive third-quarter 2025 results show strong momentum, with revenue rising to $562 million from $430 million a year earlier. The company also raised its full-year guidance, underscoring confidence in continued growth. As demand for secure, cloud-based infrastructure keeps growing, Cloudflare's expanding platform and improving efficiency leave it well positioned to capture further gains in a rapidly growing market.
