- 8+ years of identifying incomplete or inaccurate data, identifying the root cause and creating/implementing an escalation plan experience
- 6+ years of creating process improvements with automation and analysis experience
- 3+ years of advanced proficiency in Excel (pivots, lookups, etc.) experience
- Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, business, economics, or a related analytical field (e.g., engineering, math, computer science), or a CPA and experience in accounts receivable or account payable
Desirable
- 6+ years of participating in continuous improvement projects in your team to scale and improve controllership with measurable results experience
- 6+ years of identifying incomplete or inaccurate data, identifying the root cause and creating/implementing an escalation plan experience
- 6+ years of mentoring junior finance and/or business team members experience
- 3+ years of working with senior staff (e.g. c-suite) experience
- MBA, or CPA
- Experience working with large-scale data mining and reporting tools (i.e. SQL, MSAccess, Essbase or Cognos) and providing recommendations based on results of ad hoc analyses to management for strategic decision-making
What the job involves
- Amazon MGM Studios (AMS) Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A) team is looking for a Finance Manager to support the business and finance teams across theatrical film, third party scripted & unscripted TV, MGM+, consumer products and global distribution, with a focus on managing the financial planning efforts and direct ownership of the Profit & Loss consolidation
- This role will drive the core financial planning cycles, including Month-End Close, Quarterly Guidance forecasts and Annual Operating Plans, as well as ongoing controllership. Further, this role will lead FP&A efforts around special projects, such as M&A and business/system integrations. This role provides exposure to both finance partners and business operations teams
- Lead month end, quarterly, annual operating financial planning working cross functionally with various teams, including Prime Video finance, accounting, and business operations
- Ensure data is accurately reflected in financial planning systems, including Essbase and Cognos
- Drive process automation to streamline current processes and enhance financial controllership
- Ad hoc project support on company-wide strategic initiatives
- Analyze complex financial data and provide accurate and timely reports to key stakeholders, highlighting key insights and recommendations
- Support the month-end close process and ensure accurate and timely financial reporting
- Assist in developing and implementing financial policies, procedures, and internal controls

More recently, Amazon has been focused on leading the "third wave in digital advertising". Many businesses are now shifting ad dollars to retailers, which before would have been spent with online media platforms. Amazon's seen great success in the space, with its revenue from advertising now higher than its Amazon Prime membership scheme, audiobooks and digital music combined. This growth is particularly impressive considering its digital ad rivals (like Snap, Alphabet, and Meta) have suffered declines due to wider macroeconomic factors and Apple's iOS privacy changes.
Despite its dominant market position, Amazon will continue to be challenged over the next decade, including sustaining AWS's cloud dominance in the face of Google and Microsoft. On top of this, the company's e-commerce division is facing profitability problems despite its 2023 post-IPO debt funding of 8 billion. It will need to find new ways to stay above their competitors.
