Who you are
- 5+ years of of experience in software engineering experience
- Expertise in building intuitive, responsive tools and working and a proficiency in both backend- (e.g., Python, TypeScript, Node.js, SQL) and frontend technologies (TypeScript, React)
- An interest in video technologies or sports
- A collaborative spirit and the ability to work effectively across disciplines
- A growth mindset, focused on continuous improvement and learning
- A problem-solving mindset and clear understanding of what works when it comes to building and operating large-scale systems
- An eye for architecture: you can discuss the tradeoff between architectural choices
- A knack for data analysis and visualization
- Experience with data processing pipelines
- A foundational understanding of machine learning and computer vision techniques (core principles)
What the job involves
- We are looking for a skilled Full-stack Software Engineer to join our growing Berlin office and be part of the team focused on empowering coaches and players with cutting-edge tools and insights
- Whether it’s crafting intuitive and responsive front-end experiences, building robust tools for video playback and analysis in the browser, or developing scalable systems, your work will shape how sports are experienced globally
- Collaborate with product managers, designers, engineers and a world-class AI team to deliver products that empower coaches, players, and their supporters
- Contribute to the full product lifecycle - ideation, development, deployment, and monitoring - while leveraging customer feedback loops to iteratively refine and improve products. Our teams really own their products
- Leverage and enhance Veo’s design system to create intuitive user experiences
- Participate in technical discussions, reviews, and decisions to shape Veo’s technology landscape
Our take
Statistics is a huge part of sports, from improving tactics based on the analysis of training sessions to the live-tracking of match events by fans. However, collecting the relevant in-game data for the analysis of a game is almost impossible to keep up with, limiting the breadth of information that can be learned from and shared.
Veo provides sports live-streaming camera technology that allows sports teams to automatically broadcast games, whilst AI analyzes the gameplay to produce statistics. These statistics are aggregated into analytic dashboards that help teams uncover actionable insights from the statistics of games, in addition to providing viewers with crucial real-time updates.
Whilst Veo is not the first company to use technology to provide AI-driven sports statistics, the company’s technology relies solely on cameras as opposed to smart sports apparatus, allowing the solutions to be applied to any ball game. The company aims to boost viewership and engagement between sports teams and their fans, whilst providing teams with the analysis tools necessary to learn from their gameplay on a granular level. In 2023, Veo partnered with several UK county football associations to drive engagement with their respective fans.
