Who you are

Dotmatics is seeking a Backend/Full Stack Engineer with an understanding of basic backend architecture and functional programming languages, such as Java & Java Script, to join our team
We are looking for people who have a bachelor's degree in computer science or similar, or equivalent working experience with a minimum of 1 year PQE in software development, with a focus on backend technologies, and can demonstrate strong analytical and problem-solving skills
The key skills we are looking for you have a working understanding or knowledge of
Java or similar programming language (Scala or C#)
Javascript
Asynchronous event processing (Kafka, SQS or similar)
SQL Databases (Postgres)
High-level backend application design
RESTful and GraphQL APIs
Containerization (Docker)
CI/CD tools, such as Github Actions, and CodePipeline
Agile software development methodologies and practices

Desirable

Databricks
Automated testing platforms and unit tests
React
Life science research experience
Scaling applications to process large volumes of data and events

What the job involves

You will be responsible for implementing and testing scalable software that meets the needs of the company
Working on groundbreaking Scientific Software products such as LUMA you will have the opportunity to collaborate with wider teams on best practices alongside other developers
Collaborate with the software development team in designing, developing, and implementing high-quality software solutions
Contribute to the development of software architecture and design principles for the organization
Ensure the scalability, maintainability, and security of software solutions
Participate in code reviews
