Role
Who you are
- Proven experience as a Lead Data Engineer or in a similar role
- Strong proficiency in Python for data processing and automation
- Deep knowledge of data modelling (dimensional modelling – star and snowflake schema)
- Hands-on experience with Azure Cloud services, including Azure Data Factory, Azure SQL Database, and Azure Blob Storage
- Expertise in Databricks for big data processing and analytics
- Familiarity with SQL and NoSQL databases
- Knowledge of data warehousing concepts and best practices
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail
- Strong communication and collaboration skills
Desirable
- Experience with other cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, GCP)
- Knowledge of machine learning and data science concepts
- Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices
- Certification in Azure or Databricks
What the job involves
- As a “data engineer – tech lead” you are expected to be a hands-on person and have experience leading/coordinating a team of data engineers throughout the whole lifecycle of our data pipelines (from requirements identification to deployment)
- S/he will be expected to collaborate with other Data and IT functions to continuously evolve our technology stack, POCs, etc
- Ownership of the data platform team backlog and lead the team throughout the data pipeline’s lifecycle
- Collaborate with other DATA and IT functions to assess data tools, frameworks, and technologies and lead their adoption
- Define technical standards and best practices in data engineering, including template, quality assurance, automated testing, monitoring, and technical documentation
- Design, develop, and maintain scalable data pipelines and architecture
- Identify bottlenecks or performance issues, proposing scalable and efficient solutions within existing data systems. Ensure data quality and integrity through rigorous testing and validation
- Lead code reviews and architectural decisions, ensuring the technical quality of deliverables and fostering a culture of continuous improvement
- Monitor and troubleshoot data pipeline performance and reliability
