Role
Who you are
- Bachelor’s degree, preferably in finance or accounting, or related majors including business
- CPA required, inactive status ok
- 5+ years of accounting experience, preferably in public audit firms and/or established retail businesses
- High level of attention to detail and significant experience in financial accounting and financial reporting. Inventory / retail experience preferred
- Experience working in a high-growth, dynamic environment
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
- Data-driven problem-solving skills and the ability to identify and drive quality and process improvements
- NetSuite experience a plus
What the job involves
- Take ownership of operational accounting and reporting, including detailed analysis, reconciliation, and reporting of all general ledger accounts
- Manage inventory accounting and reserves; fleet management; equity accounting and stock-based compensation
- Draft technical accounting memos where needed, including debt, equity transactions, lessor accounting, etc
- Liaise with Operations on manufacturing processes and reporting
- Oversee Accounts Payable process and accruals
- Help establish effective and automated processes for financial reporting and analytics
- Enhancement or creation of internal controls around assets and financial reporting
- Liaise with auditors for financial statement audits
- Partners cross-functionally with Finance, Operations, HR, Legal, and other department leads
- Performs other related duties as necessary or assigned
- Help recruit, select, orient, train and manage future buildout of the accounting staff

For a yearly subscription, customers can buy and use a combined waste tracking and impact app alongside the company’s purpose-made food waste bin. Unlike other bins for food waste, Mill’s product shrinks and dehydrates waste so that there’s no smell or runoff. Mill will dispose of your waste themselves, and use it for sustainable chicken feed.
With a number of high profile environmentally-friendly investors behind them, the Mill ecosystem has a range of benefits for company subscribers as well as individuals. Restaurants and offices can subscribe to Mill and help to move towards sustainability goals, whilst partnerships with local farms provide a solid revenue structure.
While Mill is currently only available in the US, since its successful first-gen launch in 2023, it has been using funding from that year to enhance its product offering and reach a wider market.
