Who you are
- This role is perfect for an experienced Executive assistant; naturally organised, quick thinking and loves being that dependable right-hand person who keeps everything (and everyone!) on track
- At least 3+ years’ experience supporting a c-suite executive (we're looking for someone to hit the ground running!)
- Calm under pressure - you’ll need to juggle different tasks and priorities at the same time without dropping the ball
- Able to thrive in a fast paced environment
- Friendly and approachable, no task is too big or small

- Exceptionally organised with efficient time management, with the ability to prioritise effectively
- Ideally experienced with Google Suite

What the job involves
- We’re looking for an Executive Assistant to join us for a 12-month maternity cover, supporting Stuart Jackson, our Co-Founder & CFO and another member of the exec team
- Act as the primary point of contact among executives, employees and clients
- Extensive calendar management, coordinating meetings across various time zones
- Arrange travel and accommodation, sometimes at short notice with last minute changes
- Inbox management, helping monitor and respond to important emails
- Be a second pair of eyes and ears on the ground - you'll be their right hand person
- Take on some Co-Sec duties, coordinating quarterly Board meetings and Audit Committee meetings. This involves a great deal of contact with the Octopus Energy Group Board members and their EA’s
- Minute taking of the Audit Committee meetings
- Prepare briefing notes ahead of external meetings and events
- Provide cross-functional support in e.g. marketing, onboarding, recruitment, and accounting when needed. Work with internal teams to help communicate finance related internal communications via Slack
- Provide administrative support for corporate tickets, summit registrations, and event passes
- Organise team social events, booking venues, and scheduling activities - you'll be an integral part of the team
- Assist in organising, hosting, and running both internal and external events
- Meet and greet guests in our London office, being a friendly face for all visitors
- Coordinate catering and hospitality for client workshops, office visits, and partner meetings
- Manage expense submissions, reconciliations, and tracking
- Work alongside the EA team, being a team player and offering support and advice when needed
- Given how fast things move here, there’s the possibility that this could evolve into a permanent role in the future - but we can’t promise that just yet!

According to Octopus, the energy industry in the UK is ruled by a handful of complacent companies peddling fossil fuels, pricing trickery, and poor customer service. Aiming to disrupt the status quo with sustainable energy, Octopus entered the market in 2016 and now supplies energy to millions of homes in a number of countries. Octopus has made a name for itself in energy circles largely because of its “Kraken” technology platform, which it claims is able to reroute energy from renewable sources around a network far more efficiently than competitors.
Octopus further differentiates itself through its aspiration to make everything as easy as possible for consumers, from the simplicity of their bills and the fact that customers are not locked into a contract, so they can leave at any time, to offering customer service over email and social media at times that suit customers. It aims to make the eco‐friendly choice the easy choice, so all of its tariffs use 100% green electricity, while being cheaper than competitors' non-green tariffs.
Its continually creating innovative new products too. For example, Octopus Tracker, where prices change daily to guarantee you get the market rate; Agile, where the price changes every half hour to enable you to benefit from cheap electricity when the sun shines, the wind blows, and the networks are under-utilised. One of the current challenges the company faces is that its products are more complex than its competitors, given that it uses 1000x more data than traditional energy companies. Because of this, it's exploring ways to explain to customers exactly how their products work.
