Who you are
- Currently enrolled in a bachelors or advanced degree in a relevant field, including Computer Science, Mathematics, Physics, or Statistics (not exhaustive)
- Approaching Junior year or beyond at the time of the internship and Must be returning to school at the end of this internship to continue academic studies
- Understanding of software development patterns and principles
- Strong problem solving skills
- Python programming ability
- Basic knowledge of SQL
- Full stack web development for small scale applications
- U.S. Person status is required as this position needs to access export-controlled data
Desirable
- Experience or coursework involving machine learning or computer vision systems
- C++ programming experience
- Experience with the Nix package management system
What the job involves
- The Anduril Imaging team develops cutting edge computer vision and AI algorithms for use with various IR imaging systems
- Most notably our WISP hemispherical imaging system provides counter UAS and counter intrusion capabilities for aerial, land, and sea based targets
- Anduril Imaging is looking for a summer intern to work with the perception team for the year 2025
- Over the course of your internship, you will develop and implement a system to catalog and analyze our recorded data, allowing the team to quantify performance more accurately, determine the development direction of new and improved computer vision and machine learning algorithms, and triage hardware defects
- Work with a mentor to and implement an application that catalogs and searches through a database of recorded imagery and metadata from various sensors
- Collaborate closely with other experts on the team, including perception, tracking & estimation, and systems engineers, to deliver cutting-edge, integrated imaging systems
Our take
Anduril makes hardware and software for defense agencies including the Department of Defense and the Department of Homeland Security. Its hardware products include specialist drones with a long flight time and surveillance towers.
This hardware is tied together by proprietary software, the Lattice platform, which uses sensor fusion, machine learning, and mesh networking to integrate real-time data from Anduril hardware and third-party systems into a single, autonomous operating picture. While the hardware observes and detects, the software can make decisions as to the threat level of any anomalies, and so allow for observation and protection of an area or building with minimal manpower.
Anduril closed a Series E funding round in 2022 led by Valor Equity Partners. This funding was used for research and development of its autonomous defense products, such as the Roadrunner, a modular twin-jet powered autonomous vehicle that can take off and land vertically. Variants of the Roadrunner include defensive warhead armed interceptors which are the first drone weapons that can be retrieved after deployment. The company has also expanded to Australia where it is working in tandem with the Australian Defence Force to improve its military technology and infrastructure and is recruiting talent worldwide to support its rapidly growing portfolio of defense projects.
