Role
Who you are
- We’re looking for an experienced, creative, and versatile engineer who is eager to tackle the challenge of building scaled, performant systems that deliver exceptionally innovative AI product experiences
- You have 6+ years of experience in software development, with a strong background in both front-end and back-end technologies
- You’ve built scalable, high-performance systems that can handle large amounts of data and traffic
- You’re excited about Large Language Models (LLMs) and the opportunity to build systems that support and leverage them
- You have the ability to ramp quickly on tech stack that features TypeScript, React, Next.js, Node.js, Apollo GraphQL, and Aurora PostgreSQL
- You have a degree in Computer Science or a related field, with a strong foundation in software engineering principles
- You’re excited to develop new best practices in an emerging domain
- You’re able to independently drive projects with ambiguous problems and deliver results
- You enjoy balancing an ambitious vision with frequent, meaningful user value delivery
- You are able to clearly communicate your reasoning and decisions to your teammates (technical and nontechnical) at an appropriate altitude of detail
- You’re energized by building software experiences customers will use directly and depend on to do their jobs successfully
What the job involves
- At Tome, engineers take ownership of projects from inception to impact, collaborating across functions and pushing the envelope on what’s possible in applied AI systems development
- You’ll work alongside a talented team to deliver industry-leading solutions and contribute to Tome’s product and technical vision
- Collaborate with product and technical leaders to identify customer problems, scope requirements, and implement solutions
- Build and maintain full-stack systems, end-to-end, from user interfaces to backend services, ensuring high availability, scalability, and performance
- Develop metrics and observability to enable the launch, maintenance, and continuous improvement of systems and features
- Stay on top of current industry trends and emerging technologies to continuously evolve our tech stack and development processes
- Participate in code reviews, mentor teammates, and help to define engineering practices
- Contribute to building a world-class engineering team through recruiting and mentorship
Our take
On a mission to help tell stories, Tome uses artificial intelligence to help turn users’ ideas into a more compelling visual narrative. It is considered in many ways like a more stagnant PowerPoint presentation, enabling users to easily create visual stories through layouts and images.
The product has experienced expansive and varied uptake, being used to close new business, prepare design portfolios, articulate brand vision, and create lesson plans, to name but a few. It stands out for generating full visual narratives with ease; users simply type in a prompt and hit enter, taking away the trials and tribulations that often come with a presentation.
The company is very green but just six months after its founding in mid-2022, it had already accrued more than one million users - the fastest productivity tool to do so - that ranged from students and teachers to go-to-market teams. 2023 series B funding will be used to add more value for its growing community.
