Role
Who you are
- Pursuing a Bachelor's of Masters degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a similar STEM field
- Exposure to CAD tools (Onshape, Solidworks, Altium, etc)
- Familiarity with cameras, electronics, and lab equipment (oscilloscopes, multimeters, etc)
- Proven project or work experience building or testing physical items
- Strong attention to detail, good problem-solving skills, and good communication skills
- Familiarity with the basic principles of optics and imaging senors
- Ability to work both independently and in a team environment
What the job involves
- Based in Irvine, CA, we are seeking engineering interns for the summer of 2026. Summer internships typically cover a wide range of disciplines, including mechanical, electrical, optical, manufacturing, software, and test engineering
- Our engineers contribute directly to real projects that support TRL11 product development. Join our team and play a crucial role in shaping the future of Human Space Exploration and US National Security
- Measure and analyze camera components and system performance
- Assist with hardware testing, board validation and bring up, and debugging of electrical systems
- Inspect, assemble, and measuer mechanical components and enclosures
- Assist hardware engineers with mechanical and electrical CAD and drawings
- Write and execute test plans and present reports to engineering leadership
- Optimize in house production system parameters, such as 3D printing configurations
- Design test and assembly fixtures and tools
- Write test scripts for evaluating software or hardware functionality and performance
Our take
Founded in 2022, TRL 11 develops technology used for satellites and manned space vehicles. Focused mainly on video solutions for space travel at low orbit, the company has most recently worked on SpaceX’s Transporter 8 Flight in June 2023.
The company’s core technologies currently being developed and used for space flights include the Space Aware Video Edge-Compute Recorder, the Hardened Network Switch for space travel internet connectivity, and the flexible launch adapter CubeSAT Deployer.
TRL 11 has reached new benchmarks in its tech developments in recent years. Its Space Aware Video Edge-Compute Recorder managed to log 90 minutes of full-motion video from multiple camera angles. This new benchmark indicates that the company’s wares are well-suited for a multitude of tasks during space travel, and has TRL 11 well set to pioneer a range of next-generation solutions for the New Space Economy.
