Role
Who you are
- You have a proven track record of successful operations management in industry and are well-versed in industry best practices
- You are highly proficient with core Microsoft 365 products (Powerpoint, Word, Excel)
- You have professional projects or a portfolio you are confident to discuss and/or show which evidence your skills in one or more of marketing, business, sales and logistics, this may include: e.g. client presentations, social media assets, research projects, market analyses etc.
- You are excited by the prospect of learning and utilising new frameworks and tools to streamline operations (e.g. sprints, critical route analysis, Notion/Jira)
- You are intrigued by the water, IoT, and start-up sectors and are keen to learn as much as possible about these areas
- You enjoy a multi-faceted exposure to work-streams including sales, marketing and operations
- You have outstanding professional communication as well as strong interpersonal skills, are outgoing and are able to communicate effectively with a variety of internal and external stakeholders
- You can quickly grasp technical concepts and translate these into layman’s terms and vice versa
- You enjoy and have experience collaborating with a small diverse team and can showcase why a dynamic start-up environment is the perfect fit
- You excel under pressure and put yourself forward for new opportunities and challenges

Desirable
- 1-3 years of industry experience
- Hold a degree from a top university
- Investment/business experience (assisting with preparation of business plans, pitch decks, financial analyses, market research)
- Sales experience (preparing client decks, materials, managing inbound/generating outbound leads, customer development)
- Marketing experience (graphics design/social media/website/email campaigns, including use of Canva & SEO)
- Project management experience (managing multiple internal and external stakeholders, using software suites such as Notion/Microsoft Project/Jira/Confluence)
- Operations experience (organising travel, company events, logistics etc.)
- Experience working in a tech-4-good company
- Experience working in a fast-paced startup/scale-up
What the job involves
- You will be working closely with the CEO and fellow team members to help bring the product to market and scale the company globally
- You will manage the company’s marketing efforts, including its social media and website, generating digital assets and content (including a Water-Wednesday series and blog with the latest water sector news)
- Producing key monthly and quarterly reports for crucial stakeholders, including existing and prospective investors and clients
- You will be highly engaged with sales processes – sourcing new leads, pursuing existing leads, preparing client deliverables, finding and responding to tenders
- You will assist with fundraising activities, identifying and researching target investors, networking, setting meetings, curating pitch decks & managing our dataroom
- Identifying and attending networking events and conferences in both the UK and overseas to assist with sales and investment efforts
- Liaising with key external stakeholders, including certification bodies, consultants & suppliers to streamline our international go-to-market
- You will assist with essential company operations (managing travel, deployment logistics, company socials and schemes e.g. cycle to work)
- Assisting with the project management of the product’s development, synthesising requirements and user feedback into actionable, prioritised tasks
- Assisting with the ideation, research, development, strategy and testing of new products, product markets and product features
- You will be responsible for key company and product documents (business plan, market research & analysis, sales materials, manuals, handbooks)
- You will manage the recruitment of additional team members, curating job descriptions, performing outreach, attending career fairs, and conducting initial interviews
- You will identify and create opportunities for ManholeMetrics, finding and submitting grant and competition applications e.g. Innovate UK

- Screening interview (remote) with HR (15 mins) week of 9th December
- Technical interview (remote) with CEO (60 mins) week of 16th December
- Final interviews (in person) with HR/CTO/CEO (cultural fit 45/15/75 mins) and to meet the team w/c 23rd & 30th December (& 6th January if required)
- First day mid-Jan to mid-February (dependent on notice period)

Our take
As the effects of climate change intensify, the frequency of flooding events is increasing. However, major infrastructures are currently grappling with a reactive approach, mainly due to the scale of their networks and the absence of adequate sensing technology and analytics. This approach proves to be expensive and environmentally harmful. Recognising these challenges, ManholeMetrics wants to address these issues and provide an effective solution to mitigate the impact of flooding.
ManholeMetrics provides cost-effective, long-lasting sensors that are designed to monitor wastewater levels. These sensors are accompanied by real-time and predictive alert systems, allowing infrastructure operators to take a proactive approach to flood management. Through this proactive approach, ManholeMetrics enables the creation of calibrated models and facilitates optimised data-driven decision-making for more effective flood prevention and response.
ManholeMetrics has received support from Yorkshire Water, Thames Water, and National Highways. This support not only serves as a testament to the credibility of ManholeMetrics' technology, but also propels the company closer to achieving its ambitious goal of ending flooding.
