Our take
Element Science is a medical device company developing wearable solutions for patients with cardiovascular diseases. Through the use of machine learning algorithms, Element Science's wearable devices are able to both detect and treat lethal heart rhythms that can lead to sudden cardiac death.
The company's flagship product - funded by Google Ventures and Third Rock Ventures - is a wearable defibrillator called Jewel. In addition to Jewel, Element Science is also developing other wearable solutions, including a wearable patch that monitors heart function and detects potential problems before they become life-threatening.
Since its launch in 2012, Element Science has received significant funding from multiple venture capital firms and the National Institute of Health. Furthermore, it received prestigious recognition for its innovative technology, including being named a 2021 Technology Pioneer by the World Economic Forum and, in 2024, receiving the European Union’s CE mark and Great Britain’s UK Conformity Assessed (UKCA). Following FDA approval for its Jewel Patch Wearable Cardioverter Defibrillator, Element Science remains committed to its research and development efforts.
