Role
Who you are
- 5+ years of software development experience, preferably as a data or backend engineer
- Expertise in Python for the processing of data
- Expertise with containers and orchestration tools, preferably Airflow
- Expertise administrating Kafka on AWS and implementing patterns for producers/consumers
- Expertise with IaC tools like Terraform
- Experience with SQL and cloud data warehousing in Snowflake or BigQuery
- Familiarity with cloud computing services such as AWS, Google Cloud, or Azure
- Outstanding communication and problem-solving skills
- Drive to help others learn and improve themselves as engineers
Desirable
- Prior experience designing and building federated data platforms
- Prior experience building and maintaining MLOps platforms
What the job involves
- We are looking for a Senior Data Engineer to help evolve our data tooling and platform as we aim to build more paved pathways to support growth
- You’ll be relied on for your expertise in transforming pipelines and the data warehouse to be more resilient, extensible, and maintainable
- This role sits on the Data Engineering Team, which is focused on delivering high-quality data and tooling on a reliable and scalable platform
- You’ll work closely with stakeholders across the company to understand their needs and build systems to unlock operational efficiencies or analytic insights
- Our solutions benefit everyone including Analysts, Product Managers, Marketers, Developers, Executives, Coaches, Players, and Parents!
- Develop and maintain scalable, robust and efficient data platforms serving analytic and operational needs across the organization
- Architect and implement high volume, high load data pipelines
- Improve existing systems' performance, observability, reliability, and scalability
- Collaborate with data producers and consumers across the organization to drive efficiencies for their work
- Optimize our data pipelines for scale, identifying new infrastructure and software patterns as needed
- Debug and troubleshoot complex problems across multiple systems and services
- Ensure system security and data privacy compliance
- Share your knowledge through technical documentation, code reviews, and mentoring
Our take
The competitive nature of sports has always been driven by scorekeeping, and nowadays results are often consumed online. However, for smaller teams it can be difficult to provide this information digitally, as they do not have dedicated web development staff.
GameChanger provides a scorekeeping and statistics platform for sports teams to engage with their fans, that allows viewers to track the progress of a game in real-time similar to with professional sports. The company also embeds a live-streaming service into the platform to facilitate remote viewing, helping to increase audience engagement.
Whilst some sports teams already stream events on platforms such as Twitch and Youtube, most do not have the technical resources to achieve this. GameChanger has recognized this gap in the market, providing a simple yet unified platform for sports scoreboards and streaming, providing a fair opportunity for any team to maximize their community engagement.
