Role
Who you are
- Advanced or equivalent degrees in Computer Science, Applied Math, Physics, Engineering, Statistics, Economics or other technical field
- 4+ years of industry experience in analytics; 2+ years of experience in statistical modeling and machine learning
- 4+ years of experience using big data query/processing languages such as SQL, Hive or Spark to transform/manipulate very large datasets
- 2+ years of experience in one or more scripting languages such as Python or R
- 2+ years of industry experience in a leadership role collaborating with cross functional partners
- 4+ years of experience in fast-paced environment or fast growing company, such as the tech sector
- Interest and past experience leading and mentoring others as an individual contributor
- Experience working with platform teams (e.g. a SaaS company or an infrastructure or platform team) and/or content creation products, particularly user-generated content
- Ability to communicate analytics results and data storytelling to influence product teams and leaders
What the job involves
- The Data Science & Analytics organization’s mission is to increase our speed, frequency and acumen of making decisions at scale by instilling a data-influenced approach to building products
- We cover a wide area of the data spectrum including analytical data engineering, product analytics, experimentation, causal inference, statistical modeling and machine learning
- Aligned and partnering with product verticals, we use this extensive toolbelt to discover new opportunities and unmet use cases, influence and shape the product roadmap and prioritization, build data products and measure impact on our community of players and creators
- The Creator Services team enables unbounded creation through reliable core services, off-platform extensibility and AI automation
- This Creator Services DSA member will partner with teams responsible for improving the performance and quality of existing services such as data store and teleports, as well as extending Roblox APIS for off-platform services
- You will be in charge of defining KPI metrics, creating strategic analysis, designing A/B experiments and applying predictive models
- As a data scientist, you will be a key partner to our product and engineering teams to shape the future of Roblox
- You’ll partner with data scientists, product managers, engineers and leaders across the company to take our understanding of our creators to the next level
- Accelerate product development through your understanding of the underlying data and your ability to partner with product and technical leaders to provide insights that drive growth
- Forecast infrastructure costs and model drivers that influence cost and quality of services
- Access raw data, and then transform it, analyze it, and render it in a compelling way
- Build dashboards to identify root causes of changes in metrics
- Evaluate A/B experiments to determine success of product feature launches
- Build predictive models to provide insight on high signal creators to target and grow to the next stage
- Identify how Roblox services play a role in creating great experiences on the platform

While online gaming is no longer a revolutionary concept, Roblox has established itself as a leader in the industry by creating a gaming toolbox that encourages quality game creation, which it pays developers for.
In addition to standard games, the platform offers virtual worlds and other experiences to explore and interact with. Its platform provides an online ecosystem for millions to create, socialize, chat, and explore immersive experiences with friends. In fact, in the US its used by two-thirds of children aged 9 to 12.
The experiences on the platform are made by Roblox's over three million creators, and are available on a range of devices from PC to Xbox to Oculus, and more. The company has grown at an impressive rate, and has been keen to adopt new developments in the tech world, for example with its real-time AI translation for players to interact outside their native tongue.
