What the job involves
- The Core Services team at VEED is responsible for platform development and providing support and enablement for other engineering teams
- Supporting other teams by providing technical assistance and troubleshooting
- Building services and infrastructure to enable other engineers and speed up development
- Taking ownership of larger initiatives within the Core Services team
- Solving technical problems end-to-end, across infrastructure, backend, and frontend
- TypeScript: We leverage TypeScript extensively for building robust and maintainable applications, both on the frontend and backend
- PostgreSQL: Our primary database system is PostgreSQL, where we handle complex data structures and ensure data integrity
- Protobuf: We utilize Protocol Buffers for efficient data serialization and communication between services, ensuring performance and reliability
- GRPC: For internal communication between services, we use gRPC, enabling high-performance and scalable interactions
- GraphQL: Our API layer is built with GraphQL, allowing for flexible and efficient data querying by clients
- Temporal: We use Temporal to compose workflows and link pieces of functionality together. Experience with it is a plus

Video is the fastest-growing form of content on the internet, with 78% of people watching online videos every week, and 55% every day. Editing video, however, remains a pain point for creators and marketers alike – who have to rely on bloated legacy platforms, the same tools used for feature films.
VEED is an online tool that aims to make video editing as simple as possible. With a user interface stripped down to the bare essentials, VEED allows creators and marketers to edit videos, add subtitles and credits, and share and distribute the end product. By specifically focusing on the needs of a social media-first audience, the founding team have created a product that integrates seamlessly with key platforms and can be used without training.
The platform has grown significantly since its launch in 2018, and now boasts hundreds of thousands of monthly active users, and month-to-month growth. The founders have ambitious growth plans for the coming decade as they build out their team and grow their user base to become the online video editing platform of choice.
