Role
Who you are
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience
- 3+ years related experience in digital design
- Proven expertise in graphic design, layout and typography or illustration
- Strong and effective interpersonal and communication skills (written, verbal, and listening)
- Comfortable with collaborative discussion, listening closely and providing honest, thoughtful feedback to colleagues
- Expertise with Adobe, Figma, Zeplin
- Comfortable with short development cycles and flexible with shifting priorities
- Able to collaborate with a team as well as take initiative and work independently
- Not afraid to start from hand-drawn thumbnails
Desirable
- Track record in developing visual identities for digital products, platforms, apps, or games
- Experience in leading visual branding projects, including creating style guides
- Portfolio showcasing shipped projects that demonstrate a deep understanding of how visual design influences user behavior and brand perception
- Strong understanding of branding design principles and application across a multitude of web-based components or libraries
- Skilled in illustration, animation, or video editing
- Experience with user-centered design
- Experience working in education technology or similar tech field
- Experience collaborating with engineers
- Experience in designing for browser or web formats
- Familiarity with Generative AI, HTML, React, JavaScript and CSS
- Has an arsenal of ice breakers that are better than ChatGPT’s
What the job involves
- Senior Visual Designers at Amplify combine Visual and UX Design, leveraging a basic understanding of the elements behind front-end websites and digital components, to craft insightful and relevant digital layouts that cater directly to the needs of our young learners and their teachers
- As a member of Amplify’s design group you will partner with a diverse cross-functional product team of designers, product owners, developers, and curriculum experts to extend and improve Amplify’s digital curriculum
- Develop an understanding of the Amplify product line and bring the brand experience to life through the lens of a digital platform product
- Contribute to the visual development of the platform’s brand identity
- Conceive, plan, and produce brand assets in a range of media for web development
- Collaborate closely with Design and Product Leadership to define the look and feel and contribute to the overall direction of the platform brand
- Articulate concepts and creative solutions visually and verbally
- Refine deliverables by obtaining feedback from stakeholders and designers
- Coordinate visual asset requirements and production within the greater design team
- Act as a brand ambassador within the design team, promoting design consistency and best practices across all projects and initiatives

Since launching as Wireless Generation in the year 2000, before rebranding in 2012 after News Corp acquired the company, Amplify has grown into one of the leading providers of K-12 curricula, assessment and supplemental programs for ELA (English Language Arts), Math and Science.
The EdTech market has been growing rapidly for the last decade and more, and its value is expected to surpass 230 billion by 2030. This growth means that the company has plenty of competition from the likes of Khan Academy and Kaplan Test, but the fact that Amplify is used by around 10 million students puts it in a very strong position.
After a major growth funding round in 2021, Amplify acquired digital math tools developer Desmos. This is in keeping with its commitment to strategically acquire high-performing education companies in order to expand its own tech and product offerings.
