Role
Who you are
- You'll need to have a strong background in product management, with a proven track record of leading product initiatives and aligning a product strategy to business objectives
- You’ll be excited about being the sole product lead and comfortable taking the initiative to bring ideas to life in a fast-growing company
- Hands-on approach: You'll probably have experience in smaller companies where you had to balance strategy and execution daily
- Commercial mindset: You'll demonstrate an ability to think beyond the product and understand our strategy, the needs of our team and the market
- Solid project management skills: Able to organise our product activity to ensure we deliver on time, on budget and on spec
- Collaborative communicator: You’re able to convey complex ideas in ways that inspire, guide, and align the team. You work well with cross-functional teams and are skilled at bringing teams together, gathering input from stakeholders and communicating product goals and updates clearly
- Customer-focused: You thrive on understanding user needs and translating them into effective, value-driven features and enhancements
- Data-informed: You’re comfortable diving into data, conducting market research, and validating ideas through user insights
- Constantly curious: You'll show a strong desire to learn, and you are always looking to understand how we can do better - with a dash of pragmatism on how we get there
- Ou may have held roles like Product Lead, Product Specialist, or Senior Product Manager and you’re excited about combining strategic vision with hands-on product development in a dynamic, impact-driven environment
What the job involves
- Reporting to our Head of Product Engineering, Dwayne, You’ll have the unique opportunity to lead strategy and execution from start to finish, shaping the products used by tenants, landlords and agents to manage their tenancies as we scale
- Define our product roadmap: Collaborate with key stakeholders to build and refine a product roadmap and gain alignment on priorities to ensure we're using our resources effectively
- Lead the product cycle: You'll be hands-on across the full product lifecycle, from ideation and requirements gathering to launch and iteration. As the sole product manager, you'll need to be as comfortable working with business stakeholders as you are with our engineers
- Customer-centric approach: Act as the voice of our users—tenants, landlords, and agents—to create features and improvements that address their needs and drive value
- Data-driven decision-making: Use customer insights, market research, and analytics to prioritize and validate product decisions
- Continuous improvement: Track and analyse product performance, gathering feedback to enhance features and refine the user experience
Our take
The average rental deposit in the UK is over £1000, an amount that many tenants struggle to pay when moving home. Flatfair's answer to this is offering a non-refundable membership-fee equal to one-quarter the cost of a rental deposit, meaning renters don't have to take on credit card debt or borrow from family and friends to fund a deposit.
Other companies such as Goodlord and Movebubble have also tried to disrupt rentals, but it remains a hard space to crack. That said, Flatfair's approach, in which it becomes pivotal to both landlords and tenants, puts the company in a smart position to streamline processes and improve the experience, and certainly makes it an intriguing prospect in the space.
