Who you are
- You have 5+ years of experience in software engineering with 2 years experience as a Tech Lead, with a proven track record of delivering high scale backend services
- You have delivered vertical projects with net new features that needed to span & coordinate with multiple teams
- You have delivered a system that had to scale to large numbers of customers/users over a few years
- You have strong leadership skills and a demonstrated ability to inspire and motivate teams to achieve ambitious goals
- You are a strategic thinker passionate about driving innovation and leveraging technology to solve complex problems
- You have excellent communication and interpersonal skills and can collaborate effectively with stakeholders at all levels
- You thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and are comfortable navigating ambiguity and driving change
What the job involves
- We are Glean’s Data Foundation Team. We’re a high‐impact team that owns the enterprise data ingestion and management infrastructure within Glean that powers Glean’s Search and AI capabilities
- We are looking for a Tech Lead who will pave the way for our hyper growth phase
- With a robust product strategy, we are entering an ambitious product and team growth phase
- We need engineering leaders who will build world-class software systems, uphold our cultural values of being fast-paced and customer-driven, and ensure solid execution in a highly collaborative environment
- As a hands-on Tech Lead Manager at Glean, you will be pivotal in leading our engineering team to build and enhance our cutting-edge platform
- Lead new product initiatives involving ingesting, understanding, and interacting with enterprise data—experimenting, prototyping, and shipping ideas quickly
- Scale robust distributed systems to handle billions of permissions-aware documents in real time, as well as build new systems from the ground up
- Drive high, direct impact by collaborating with cross-functional teams on business-critical projects, and working directly with customers
Our take
Glean is an intuitive digital assistant which allows employees to search across all their apps and find the information and tools that they need more quickly.
With so many SaaS apps being used by modern day companies, overwhelm and inefficiency inevitably enter the equation. Glean’s search engine is proving popular for how it unifies and centralizes all these distributed tools and data.
It’s been quite a start to life at Glean, having emerged from stealth in 2021, it received a $1B valuation in early 2022, thus achieving unicorn status. Since then, the company has gone on to raise substantial funding and bring its valuation up to $7.2B in 2025. With this impressive growth, its secured some big name customers like Grammarly, databricks, and Rubrik.
That Glean was co-founded by a quartet with senior experience at Google, Microsoft, Uber, and Facebook stands the company in good stead. However, it’s the fact that its search engine is solving a new, but very real problem in the workplace that’s seen its popularity surge so quickly, which it’s likely to continue to do in the future. And its adaptability to include new AI capabilities to its platform, such as generative AI, has Glean well set to see further growth.
