Who you are
- Highly motivated early-career professional; prior project management or operations experience a plus but not required
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent; recent graduates encouraged to apply
- Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple workstreams simultaneously
- Familiarity with Salesforce and/or Asana a plus
- Excellent communication and coordination skills, with the ability to manage multiple stakeholders across functions
- Detail-oriented self-starter with a proactive mindset and problem-solving ability
- Interest in financial services and partnerships preferred, but industry background is not required
What the job involves
- The Partner Activation Associate will be responsible for owning the operational setup and coordination of new partnerships across National Sales, TPA, and Special Markets channels
- Reporting to our VP of National Sales, this role ensures that partnership launches are executed seamlessly and efficiently
- The Partner Activation Associate will support sales representatives by coordinating directly with operational teams—including Sales Ops, Deal Desk, Rev Ops, Billing, Investment Operations, and others—so that senior sales leaders can remain focused on driving new sales and managing client relationships
- The Associate will also assist with managing and organizing the partnership pipeline, hosting regular review calls to ensure visibility, accountability, and alignment across all internal teams involved in partnership execution
- Maintain and organize the partnership pipeline to ensure visibility, timely execution, and cross-team alignment
- Host monthly partnership review calls to review pipeline status, priorities, and upcoming launches with internal stakeholders
- Coordinate with cross-functional teams—including Sales Ops, Deal Desk, Rev Ops, Investment Ops, Billing, and others—to execute the setup of new partnerships
- Serve as the internal project manager for partnerships that fall outside the scope of the Project Management team
- Support sales representatives by handling operational setup and administrative coordination, reducing the need for senior leaders to engage in internal calls
- Ensure all operational dependencies are completed and tracked for a seamless partner onboarding experience
- Work across a wide range of partnership types, including:
- Regional bank and payroll partnerships (e.g., Nicolet)
- TPAs
- Regional broker-dealers
- Block plan conversions
- MEAPs and other special market deals

Our take
The current landscape of 401(k) retirement plans is stagnant in comparison to the standards of financial software innovation. Vestwell offers a digital record-keeping platform that works directly with wealth management firms to help workplaces save money on their employee retirement plans. Vestwell does this by removing the friction points financial advisors and companies have in establishing and maintaining defined contribution and benefit programs.
The startup faces competition from legacy players such as Boston-based Fidelity Investments who currently keep track of almost $2 trillion in assets in the industry. Furthermore, Empower also focuses on advisor-friendly and customized web tools and functionality, presenting further competition to Vestwell.
Despite this, Vestwell is uniquely positioned to disrupt the stagnant 401(k) system, a stance only strengthened by its substantial rounds of funding through the 2020s. This has been invested into expanding platform functionality and servicing for its partners and clients, releasing two new products in September 2022 - Vestwell Flex and a TPA portal. These additions will make Third Party Administration partnerships more efficient for Vestwell customers, streamlining the recordkeeping systems necessary for such actions. Continued product updates like these will help Vestwell keep pace with its substantial competition.
