Role
Who you are
- At least five (5) years of professional software engineering experience and strong proficiency with any programming language; Java and our tech stack listed is preferred
- BS degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or similar major
- Deep knowledge of computer science fundamentals, such as algorithms and data structures
- High degree of self-motivation and willingness to jump into unfamiliar areas to solve problems
- Ability to work with stakeholders to develop new product ideas, design the technology to implement them, and see them through to completion
- Experience in building trading systems or high-throughput streaming applications
What the job involves
- You will solve important problems that underpin the financial system, handling tens of millions of trades/day
- You will build highly available, scalable, mission-critical applications in a modern technology stack
- You will work with users to understand and define new features and drive them to completion
- You will develop a deep understanding of the business domain
- The mission of the Clear Street Broker-Dealer Clearing (BDC) team is to design the technology that enables the largest trading firms in the world to operate
- We automate the processes that ensure trades happen: ensuring the details are correct, the money and assets change hands on time, and making sure that the risk is managed appropriately

It’s been quite a rise to prominence for the New York based startup, which surpassed a billion dollar valuation in 2022 despite only launching in 2018. However, given the previous industry experience of its founders, Clear Street's success should come as no surprise. The trio built the platform as a remedy to their own pain points, missed opportunities, and lack of access to key data in the prime brokerage space.
With its Unicorn status secured and its list of clients growing, Clear Street is now gearing up for a period of rapid expansion, both geographically and across the financial services industry. Securing funding in 2023 from Prysm Capital, the company has money to play with as it continues to pursue better infrastructure for capital markets.
