What the job involves
- We’re looking for a driven and relationship-focused Business Development Manager to lead growth across the UK IFA/Wholesale market on an 18-month FTC basis, covering a period of family leave
- In this role, you’ll take ownership of the London region, building strong partnerships with adviser firms and driving increased adoption of our multi-asset investment solutions
- Operating in a fast-evolving market, you’ll work closely with key decision-makers, positioning tailored, solutions-led propositions that align with client needs
- You’ll play a critical role in expanding assets under management, identifying new business opportunities, and strengthening existing relationships through high-quality, consistent engagement
- This is a highly collaborative role, working across Investments, Marketing, and wider Sales teams to deliver a seamless and market-leading client experience
- Investment expertise means nothing if clients don’t experience it. Our business development and client experience teams build trusted relationships across regions, while our marketing, investment, and communications teams showcase what sets us apart – powering our growth
- You will own and deliver against regional new business and AUM growth targets through a clear, actionable business plan and build, develop and maintain strong relationships with tier 1, 2 and 3 IFA/intermediary firms, identifying and converting new business opportunities - ensuring that our proposition is clearly articulated in the region
- Embed investment solutions within client and fund selection processes to drive long-term growth
- Deliver high-quality, consistent client engagement and reviews through meetings, calls, events, roadshows and written communication
- Represent Aviva Investors at industry events, client functions and internal forums - staying informed on market trends, platform developments and product enhancements to effectively position solutions
- Manage and maintain a robust sales pipeline, ensuring accurate tracking of activity, opportunities and flows within CRM systems
- Act as the voice of the client internally, sharing insights to shape proposition development and improve client outcomes
- Collaborate cross-functionally with Investments, Marketing, Client Services and Sales teams to deliver regional objectives
- Contribute to team success by sharing best practice and supporting the development of Business Development Associate
- In this role you’ll be ‘Certified’ under the Financial Conduct Authority / Prudential Regulation Authority’s Senior Managers and Certification Regime (SMCR)
- This means that we’ll need to complete some regulatory background checks on you before you take up your role and we’ll need to ask you some questions on an annual basis to make sure you remain ‘fit and proper’ and competent to carry out your role
- We’ll provide training on what holding a SMCR role means when you join us and annually thereafter

With a history that dates back to the founding of Hand in Hand Fire & Life Insurance Society in 1696, Aviva’s current form is thanks to a merger between Norwich Union and CGU plc in the year 2000.
Over the noughties, Aviva grew its market out to Europe and established a high-profile foothold in America thanks to the most expensive advertising campaign of the time that included celebrities Alice Cooper and Bruce Willis. This exemplifies Aviva’s renewed focus on the fintech sector, all whilst serving as a national analyst during the cost-of-living crisis, thanks to its annual Age of Ambiguity study.
