Who you are
- You have experience in a Director level engineering role or similar, providing leadership across a critical tech domain
- You are a strong people leader and understand how to get the best out of your team
- You have Exceptional communication skills to represent and drive alignment within the broader scope of the BumbleTech organisation
- Ideally, you have worked on an internal development platform and/ or PaaS projects or similar and have operated in a Platform as a product mindset and environment, ideally - helped shape it
- You have experience working in a cloud-native and on-prem environments with a modern tech stack - Bonus points if you have experience driving modernisation
- You love enabling engineers and have an engineering mindset
- Deep technical knowledge and breadth of exposure to modern industry practices in building developer and production software platforms
- You’re a Strategic thinker with solid experience turning strategy into execution and focus on achieving business outcomes
What the job involves
- As Engineering Director for the PaaS and Developer Experience groups, you will be a part of a talented and collaborative leadership team who are collectively responsible for developing Platform infrastructure and products for all engineering teams in the business
- Represent platform within the BumbleTech organisation, leading alignment and cross-group- prioritisation with the customer-focused Apps groups as well as the Trust & Safety, Revenue, Data Platform and other groups
- You will work closely with a team of highly skilled engineers and engineering managers and will manage complicated technical requirements across the range of platform components focusing on scalability, reliability and security
- You will leverage your knowledge of backend infrastructure approaches, PaaS, IDP and Cloud offerings to shape the modernisation of the platform software infrastructure
- Work closely with our IT Operations group on the transformation of our software infrastructure towards a modern cloud-based approach

Bumble's founder was a co-founder and VP of Marketing at Tinder (she ultimately left among allegations of sexism at the company). This would have given her great insights and experience into the dating market as it began to come online - enabling the company to build for what people want.
Bumble's selling point, as it competes with a pile of other dating apps, is that is empowers women to make the first move by giving them the ability to control the conversation. This has certainly proved popular, and is no doubt one of the reasons behind its success so far.
