Who you are
- You have a strong technical background in software engineering, with meaningful work on developer tooling, infrastructure, CI/CD, or platform engineering
- You’re energized by making other engineers more productive: you measure your impact by how much faster and happier the team is, not just by what you ship yourself
- You have strong opinions on how AI is changing software development and have hands-on experience using AI coding tools in your own workflow
- You’ve built internal tools and automation focused on developer productivity, and evolved them as the organization grew and needs changed
- You’re comfortable being in the early stages of a new function: scoping ambiguous problems, making build-vs-buy decisions, and building credibility with engineers and engineering leadership
- You’re experienced in measuring developer productivity and willing to pivot your approach based on what the data shows
What the job involves
- We’re looking for a Software Engineer to help build the developer productivity function at Anrok
- You’ll sit within our Infrastructure team and work on the tools, systems, and workflows that make every engineer at Anrok faster, from CI/CD and dev environments to AI coding tools and agent-friendly infrastructure
- As an early member of this effort, you’ll have significant influence over what developer productivity looks like here, with a particular focus on helping the team take full advantage of AI in how we build software
- We use GitHub Actions, Jest, ESLint, Cursor, and Claude Code day-to-day, and our production stack runs on GCP, Pulumi, Postgres, and TypeScript
- Own the tools and environments engineers use to write code: from local dev setup and AI-agent sandboxes to AI coding tools configured with org-specific context and best practices
- Build a developer tooling ecosystem that other engineers can easily extend and contribute to to enable and encourage contribution from across the organization
- Improve the code review experience through better tooling, automation, and workflows that increase velocity without sacrificing rigor
- Increase the speed and reliability of building and deploying code to production: CI/CD pipelines, test infrastructure, feature flags, and deployment workflows
- Instrument and measure developer experience, using data to identify bottlenecks and prioritize the highest-leverage improvements
Our take
Software is becoming an increasingly taxable enterprise, in increasingly nuanced and jurisdiction-specific ways thanks to new rulings in the late 2010s. SaaS companies need to keep track of both their physical and economic nexuses, leaving many companies scrambling to stay compliant. Anrok has developed a simple API-based solution to help companies get there.
Anrok's no-code, out-of-the-box tool helps businesses easily calculate sales tax monitoring, calculation, and remittance wherever their product is used, and easily identify new exposures. It’s a simple solution to a complex problem, and the result for Anrok has been impressive funding and strong growth in the short few years it’s been in operation.
This will in part be thanks to the company’s astute pricing model: much like SaaS businesses themselves, it’s based on demand. This makes it scalable enough to encompass both smaller and enterprise SaaS clients. This, in turn, means Anrok’s addressable market within the SaaS sector is substantial. And that’s a sector that in itself is continuing to see remarkable growth. All this makes it a promising, and as of yet fairly unchallenged, position that Anrok is carving out.
