Who you are
- The ideal candidate is both creative and analytical—able to craft compelling messages for higher education audiences while optimizing performance through data and insights
- 5+ years of experience in B2B email marketing; SaaS experience strongly preferred
- Proven success developing and executing multi-touch email campaigns that drive measurable results
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret campaign data and translate insights into action
- Excellent copywriting and communication skills tailored to professional and higher education audiences
- Proficiency with marketing automation platforms such as HubSpot, Marketo, or Pardot
- Experience working with CRM systems such as Salesforce or HubSpot
- Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, or a related field (preferred)
What the job involves
- The Email Marketing Specialist is responsible for building and executing high-impact B2B email marketing programs that drive engagement, generate pipeline, and strengthen customer relationships across the learner-to-earner lifecycle
- In this role, you’ll own the full email marketing process—from strategy, segmentation, and email content development to deployment, reporting, and optimization
- You’ll collaborate closely with the Demand Generation, Product Marketing, Customer Marketing, and Sales teams to create targeted, personalized email campaigns that convert interest into action and support Modern Campus’s growth objectives
- Manage the end-to-end email marketing process, including scheduling, segmentation, copywriting coordination, design coordination, testing, and deployment
- Build and execute nurture programs that engage prospects, accelerate funnel progression, and support retention and expansion initiatives
- Partner with Revenue Operations to maintain and segment email lists, ensuring accurate targeting and clean data
- Continuously monitor and analyze campaign performance metrics (open rates, CTRs, conversions, unsubscribes, etc.) to identify trends and areas for improvement
- Conduct A/B testing to optimize subject lines, send times, design elements, and content for maximum impact
- Ensure email deliverability best practices, compliance with privacy regulations, and proper use of tracking and automation tools
- Provide actionable insights and recommendations to enhance engagement and overall marketing ROI
- Stay current on email marketing trends, technologies, and best practices to continually evolve Modern Campus’s approach
- Partner with content and design teams to ensure strong visual identity and messaging alignment across all campaigns
- Support broader marketing programs and campaigns with email components that amplify reach and drive conversions

Modern Campus offers a whole suite of engagement-oriented SaaS products for higher education institutions, including enrollment, communication, curriculum management, and career pathways planning.
The company’s roots go back to 1982 and the early days of web development and SaaS, but a 2019 merger between higher education CMS OmniUpdate, and Student Lifecycle Management (SLM) company Destiny Solutions, led to a 2021 rebrand as Modern Campus.
Now over 2,000 North American institutions are customers of the company, including St. Louis University and Utah Valley University. This gives an indication of Modern Campus’ relevance and strength of position in the market.
There are no signs of slowing down as Modern Campus looks to tap into increasing demand for the modernization of campus life. Since rebranding, the company has been making key acquisitions in the higher education sector to expand its own services range, including campus engagement platform Presence, and conversational text messaging platform Signal Vine.
