Role
Who you are
- This role requires a strategic and hands-on leader who can navigate complex challenges while driving the project toward successful implementation
- Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering or a related field
- Proven track record of managing complex engineering or infrastructure projects, ideally in hydrogen or desalination projects or other pilot projects considering engineering from all disciplines (mechancial, electrical, process, civil, etc)
- Demonstrated success in managing cross-functional teams and stakeholders under high-pressure conditions to reach ambitious goals
- Ideally, experience with permitting and regulatory processes
- Strong project management and organizational skills
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities
- Technical understanding of multiple engineering disciplines
- Leadership skills with the ability to inspire and manage teams
- Fast learning and quick to grasp complex topics
- A team player with a hands-on mentality

What the job involves
- As the Program Manager, you will be responsible for leading the deployment of our pilot project, from coordinating permits to managing operational readiness
- You will oversee the engineering team, align stakeholders, and ensure that all components are delivered on time, within budget, and at the highest standard
- Pilot Project Construction: Lead the deployment of our pilot project, ensuring all elements are executed efficiently and effectively
- Manage timelines, budgets, and deliverables to meet project goals
- Permits and Compliance: Oversee the permitting process, ensuring compliance with all regulatory requirements
- Plan and implement operational strategies to prepare for project execution and post-deployment operations
- Stakeholder Coordination: Act as the central coordination point for the engineering team and other stakeholders involved in building the pilot
- Foster clear communication and collaboration between internal teams, external partners, and stakeholders
- Team Leadership: Provide leadership to the engineering team, being their first point of contact for technical challenges and also ensuring clarity of roles, accountability, and professional development
- Build and nurture a high-performing, motivated team capable of meeting deployment goals
Our take
Climate change is a pressing issue, with CO2 being the major contributor to global warming. While reducing emissions is essential, removing CO2 from the atmosphere is also crucial. Direct Air Capture (DAC) technologies offer a promising solution to tackle this problem by extracting CO2 directly from the air.
Ucaneo is addressing this challenge with its DAC technology, which mimics the human lungs to capture CO2 using electricity and a special solvent at room temperature. This system is designed to be energy-efficient and compatible with renewable energy sources, making it adaptable and effective for large-scale CO2 removal.
Recently the company secured significant funding which will help it build a major DAC facility in Germany as well as develop its first industrial product. With this support, Ucaneo aims to capture 0.5 gigatons of CO2 by 2035, significantly contributing to the global CO2 reduction effort.
