Company mission

Altana AI's mission is to improve global commerce.

Role

Who you are

  • Significant experience (generally 10+years) as a product manager in a complex enterprise b2b space with multiple product offerings built on a single technology and data platform
  • Significant experience with tracking, navigating, and translating vision and mission through to customer needs and outcomes through to development priorities for a suite of product offerings
  • Entrepreneurial approach to product management, including comfort and desire to take full ownership and accountability for aligning successful customer outcomes with successful business outcomes for Altana
  • Comfortable and excited to build, grow, and evolve new teams and capabilities within a fast moving start-up environment
  • Demonstrated success identifying commonalities and patterns across potentially disparate and conflicting user needs and developing compelling product solutions and transformative experiences that deliver deep value
  • Business-driven with a passion for technology - you crave identifying, defining, and solving customer needs through sophisticated technology delivered in intuitive user experiences
  • A data-driven approach to decision-making
  • Excellent communication skills to clearly and concisely communicate complex topics to diverse stakeholders (product, design, engineers, customers, commercial teams etc.) in written and verbal form

What the job involves

  • The Product team is looking for a Director of Product Management to lead the product and design efforts for our Value Chain Compliance Management System for private sector global enterprise customers
  • This role encompasses not only compliance with regulations around Forced Labor and Restricted Parties but also compliance with emerging ESG regulations such as deforestation (EUDR), carbon (CBAM), and more comprehensive sustainability directives such as CSRD and CS3D and beyond
  • Building on top of the backbone of Altana’s world class data asset and global Value Chain Management System, this leader will be empowered to work across a diverse set of clients to understand the full scope of their compliance needs and priorities and to leverage the Altana data and technology stack and network ecosystem to bring to market a suite of product offerings
  • As a senior member of the product team, this role will provide an incredible opportunity to interface with the founders, executives, and go-to-market teams to interact with our customers and evangelize our product vision and roadmap
  • Develop and oversee processes for user and customer research in order to deeply understand customer needs and preferences across our target customer segments in the value chain compliance management space
  • Build a deep understanding of market trends, partner ecosystem, and competitive landscape so that you go in wide eyes open with regard to how to effectively capture the value chain compliance market with the broad spectrum of build, buy, partner options at your fingertips
  • In collaboration with product, engineering, and commercial teams, work to develop the overall product strategy, product roadmap, and feature specifications for Altana’s Value Chain Management Compliance offering including how to phase emerging ESG compliance offerings and the best approach for Altana to quickly and effectively bring end-to-end solutions to market that leverage Altana’s core data and technology stack and network ecosystem assets
  • Collaborate with the larger product management and product design team, engineering and Machine Learnings teams, internal subject matter experts, and external customers to scope, design, test, and deliver sticky product offerings that create net new value to customers and the market
  • Work closely with Product Marketing and commercial team to build out go-to-market and launch plans and positioning to capture the market opportunity
  • Customer-centric product line solutioning: You are building not a single standalone product offering but a suite of product offerings to support multiple customers for multiple regulations on top of a unified data and technology platform
  • You will be empowered to deeply understand the needs landscape as well as the competitive market and scope end-to-end solutions that include build, buy, partner assessments and recommendations
  • Your job is to deliver end-to-end solutions for our customers leveraging Altana’s core capabilities across data and value chain creation and build net new capabilities in value chain management for global compliance requirements for global enterprises
  • Supported decision-making with AI-driven insights: In order to deliver new value chain management capabilities you will collaborate with a world class Machine Learning team and the Director of Graph PM who are building and deploying models to run on top of the existing core data platform that stitches together Altana proprietary data and customer proprietary data into a bespoke global value chain for each customer
  • Your job will be to deliver tailored intelligence, such as prioritization of risks and opportunities by things like severity and business impact, across compliance and environmental requirements for a range of users working off of a shared source of truth. You’ll design user interactions that drive model learning loops and enable individual company decision making with real-world mission impact across the shared global network
  • Collaborative workflows to take action: Because individual value chains are specific to each customer but the global network of value chains is highly overlapping and connected, especially within and across similar and related industries, you will also partner with our Director of Collaboration PM to establish user network effect through collaborative workflows that enable users to take actions to resolve prioritized risks
  • These collaborative workflows will be tied directly to the suite of product offerings you are building for compliance with existing regulations such as Force Labor (UFLPA) and Restricted Parties and emerging ESG regulations such as deforestation (EUDR), carbon (CBAM), and more comprehensive sustainability directives such as CSRD and CS3D and beyond
  • When we say end-to-end solutions this includes the ability for users to work together on a supply chain common operating picture with shared intelligence that enables them to take action on that visibility and intelligence through workflows that help them to manage and govern their global, multi-tier value chain networks

Our take

Altana AI’s platform provides a shared source of truth for the global supply chain. The idea is that this will help businesses and governing powers optimize global commerce which, over the past few years, has shot up on the list of international priorities. With three quarters of businesses reporting recent supply chain disruptions, and governments increasingly concerned with mitigating security threats, data-driven visibility is more sought after than ever before.

Crucially, the platform doesn’t require data sharing to create global intelligence, instead using a federated machine learning approach. This is a nut many big-data companies have been trying to crack, and Altana AI’s success has attracted the company interest from top-tier investors like Google Ventures and Floating Point alongside contracts with the UK Department of Business & Trade. A number of other headline enterprises and government agencies are already on the company's customer roster.

With companies looking to recoup some of the $4 trillion reportedly lost in supply chain disruptions over recent years, and the push for global databases getting stronger, logistics startups are having a fruitful investment period. Altana is crafting a remarkable product at a highly marketable time, and with good uptake so far. Backed by substantial funding, Altana is set for a strong few years.
