Who you are
- The ideal candidate will have a strong academic foundation in a relevant field, a keen interest in data and the crypto space, and a proactive attitude towards learning and development in a dynamic environment
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field
- Strong analytical and problem-solving potential
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel/ Google Sheets, with a willingness to develop financial modeling and data analysis skills
- Familiarity with basic financial reporting and accounting concepts gained through academic studies
- Good communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to learn to present findings clearly
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team, demonstrating a proactive approach
- Strong attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy
- Genuine interest in fintech and the crypto space, with a desire to learn about the financial services industry
- Familiarity with financial planning software (e.g., Anaplan), ERP software (e.g., NetSuite), or data software (e.g., Looker) gained through academic projects is a plus
- Basic knowledge of SQL or other database querying languages learned through coursework is a plus
- Ability to collaborate effectively with team members and stakeholders, with a willingness to learn from others
- Eagerness to learn and develop new financial skills and knowledge

What the job involves
- We're looking for an enthusiastic and detail-oriented FP&A Graduate to join our growing Finance team
- This is an exciting opportunity to gain hands-on experience in financial planning, forecasting, and analysis, directly contributing to our strategic decision-making
- Support the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial forecasts and budgets, learning the underlying processes
- Assist in the analysis of financial data to identify initial trends and provide supporting insights for business decisions, under guidance
- Help prepare and distribute regular financial reports, including variance analysis and performance summaries
- Contribute to the development and maintenance of financial models and forecasting tools, learning best practices
- Assist in the preparation of presentations for senior management and stakeholders, gaining exposure to executive communication
- Conduct ad-hoc financial analysis and reporting as required, developing your analytical skills
- Support the preparation of business cases for new initiatives and investments, learning the financial evaluation process
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather financial data, focusing on accuracy and understanding data sources
- Learn to monitor and track key performance indicators (KPIs) and contribute to identifying areas for improvement
- Assist with aspects of the month-end and year-end closing processes, gaining insight into accounting cycles
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of FP&A processes and procedures by identifying areas for learning and suggesting improvements
Our take
The invention of blockchain technology has given rise to many cryptocurrencies over the last decade, with tokens such as Bitcoin presenting promising investment potential. However, purchasing Bitcoin is usually associated with volatile trading as opposed to savings accounts, showing a gap in the market for long-term traditional investors.
Xapo provides a Bitcoin banking service and savings account, combining traditional banking infrastructure with blockchain technology to offer savings accounts with up to 2% annual interest. Access to the bank requires a membership application with the company focussing on high-volume investors, protecting every account with dedicated account managers and cutting-edge security whilst providing additional benefits such as payment cards and ATM withdrawals.
The company will undeniably face significant competition from cryptocurrency trading giants such as Binance and Coinbase. However, Xapo has taken a smart approach of combining Bitcoin investment with traditional banking, recognizing that many people seek a more stable and long-term relationship with crypto. In 2023, it launched a Single Euro Payments Area (SEPA) payment feature and integration with Faster Payments System, exemplifying the digital bank's firm rooting in the European financial market.
