Role
Who you are
- 10+ years of HR or relevant leadership experience, with at least 5 years in a BP leadership role partnering with Director+ leaders in Sales and GTM organizations
- Ideally experience working in a SaaS or enterprise technology company
- Experience supporting leaders and teams in geographies outside the US, ideally UK and EMEA
- Builder at heart; helped companies scale from a few hundred to many hundreds or 1000+
- Excited about AI transforming human work and ideally experimented with it yourself
- At your best leading through ambiguity and constant change, nimble and responsive to short-term surprises while still driving progress on longer-term initiatives
- Emotionally intelligent and able to build strong trust and relationships with leaders and employees of diverse backgrounds at all levels
- An exceptional communicator in both written and verbal interactions; clear, concise, and courageous in giving tough but supportive and respectful feedback when needed
- Respected just as much for your business judgment as for your HR expertise
- Approach every problem with a mix of prior expertise, ‘first principles’ thinking, and data

What the job involves
- The Director, people business partner for our sales and Go-to-Market (GTM) organization will help bring our people vision and strategy to life and help our team attract, inspire, develop, and retain the best GTM talent out there
- This role will report directly to our Chief people officer
- You'll be a trusted partner to people managers and team members alike and proactively address issues that may be holding people and teams back from doing their best work
- Work with leaders across GTM to translate our GTM strategy and priorities into people-, organization-, and change-related initiatives that accelerate our progress
- Work with GTM leaders to create and drive a high-performance culture
- Bring both best practices as well as fresh problem-solving on issues of talent management and development, organizational design, retention, engagement, and more
- Help strengthen our culture and people practices in how we engage and inspire team members, support growth and development, and help them perform to their potential
- Partner closely with our Legal team on employee relations issues and ensure we are always fully compliant with local, state, and federal laws and requirements
- Collaborate closely with other People team leaders at WRITER to make our People strategy, initiatives, and programs successful
Our take
AI-assisted writing tools have taken off over recent years. With the likes of high-exposure company Grammarly accelerating adoption of such tools, a flurry of startups have appeared to offer their own takes. Writer’s angle is to leverage AI as a means of standardizing and scaling both content and communications for business teams. The tool offers autofilling and inline suggestions that keep content aligned with pre-determined company language and style guides.
This branded fine-tuning function distinguishes it from full copy-generation competitors, as well as from Grammarly itself, which is a more generalist copyediting tool. It subsequently caters to major enterprise clients looking to maintain standards across multiple and sprawling teams, and the company has managed to net major clients like Deloitte, Twitter, UiPath, and Accenture.
While AI-related buzz remains solidly around generative AIs like ChatGPT and Bard, Writer's narrow target market - in which it has already found success - supplies plenty of scope to grow, as AI copyediting tools look set to rapidly become content industry standard. With continued new launches and updates to its offerings as well as an impressive $100 million Series B awarded in 2023, the company is well-placed to seek further success into the future.
