Role
Who you are
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or a CPA preferred
- 4+ years of indirect tax experience with a public accounting firm and/or corporate tax department
- Technical knowledge of sales and use tax and global VAT/GST systems, and relevant industry experience handling indirect tax with digital products and e-commerce
- Broad-based understanding of tax and accounting fundamentals and related processes
- Deep analytical and problem-solving skills with a strong interest in technology and its use in business processes
- Advanced Excel skills including pivot tables, VLOOKUP, and data analysis
- Power BI, Alteryx or other automation tools
- High attention to detail to complete projects and meet deadlines
- Strong organizational, interpersonal, written and oral communication skills
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
What the job involves
- As the Indirect Tax, Senior Analyst, you will report to the Global Director of Indirect Tax to support our growth globally
- This role will be responsible for the daily global indirect tax compliance which includes US Sales and Use Tax, Canada GST, VAT and other taxes
- You will perform hands-on preparation and review of compliance filings, owning monthly tax accounting and reconciliation, and actively participating in system testing and audit support
- This is an outstanding opportunity for a highly motivated tax expert looking to significantly enhance their technical skills while making a substantial impact in a fast-paced environment
- This full-time role is on a hybrid schedule based in our San Mateo, California office
- Prepare and review monthly and quarterly global Indirect tax returns
- Manage a detailed tax filing calendar to ensure all jurisdictional deadlines are met
- Coordinate with third-party service providers for data exchange, review of prepared returns, and timely remittance of tax payments
- Execute data uploads, reconcile reports, manage large amounts of electronic data,and identify data patterns and issues
- Prepare journal entries and detailed support for monthly sales and use tax accruals and payments
- Assist with quarterly ASC 450 calculations and supporting documentation
- Reconciliation of all indirect tax accounts and systems
- Research, resolve, and document routine and complex tax notices from state and local authorities
- Gather, organize, and analyze data to support internal and external SUT audits
- Participate in indirect tax transformation projects, with a focus on system testing, data validation, and documentation
- Provide ad hoc support for other global tax initiatives, including VAT, GST, etc
