Role
Who you are
- We’re looking for an enthusiastic and driven Marketing Intern to join our Marketing team for the summer
- We’re not looking for any previous experience, just as long as you can demonstrate a genuine interest in marketing and/or how brands communicate
- You’re excited to get stuck-in from day 1, resourceful, and like coming up with creative solutions to problems
- You’re a self-starter, who makes their own opportunities, is happy asking questions, and pushes tasks to completion
- You’re excited to learn about - and get stuck into - the marketing world, including creating content for social media
- You’re excited by Urban Jungle’s mission to make insurance fairer
What the job involves
- In this role you’ll be working alongside our 5-strong marketing team, running your very own project, and supporting the production of our social content
- You’ll get to jump right into the action - thinking up outside-the-box marketing ideas and making them a reality, all in a matter of weeks!
- We operate across a huge range of marketing channels (Social, TV, Partnerships, Email, SEO, Google PPC, etc), so you’ll also have the opportunity to gain exposure and learn lots about how a broad range of areas run
- You’ll hit the ground running with your own marketing project, seeing it through from start to finish - from ideation, to execution, to recommending what happens next
- You’ll put your creative skills in action, helping to produce, edit, and post content for Urban Jungle’s social media channels
- You’ll work collaboratively with the rest of the marketing team to make it all happen, making real impact during your time with us
- You’ll work with us for ~3 months over the summer - there are no specific start/end dates, we can be flexible to when you’re available, so no need to worry about overlap with uni terms or other work commitments!

Our take
Urban Jungle was founded in 2016 by a team from both in and outside of the insurance industry. Jimmy Williams and Greg Smyth noticed that the insurance industry was moving at a really slow pace, hardly taking advantage of the available technology and often leaving customers behind, especially younger ones. Now Urban Jungle is the top rated home insurance provider in the UK.
Modern insurers have inherited, from their 80s predecessors, a highly inefficient general approach to the industry: when launching a new system, only new customers are included in it, while old customers remain in the old system. Customer Service Operatives at really big insurers are fishing in different systems to find people's records and that does not favour productivity at all. The challenge with Urban Jungle’s process is to build up the insurance experience from scratch taking advantage of the technology that has been developed in recent years, reducing costs and empowering customers.
Special attention needs to be paid to the insurance product. The responsiveness to the way people's risks are changing over time is a key aspect that insurers should always bear in mind. Adapting the insurance product to ever-changing needs is definitely the main challenge for Urban Jungle and its competitors, and the best way to do it is to keep continuous and direct contact with customers. Regularly testing the current insurance offer and showing readiness when adapting the product to a new necessity is the real turning point and what Urban Jungle is working for.
