Role
Who you are
- 5-15 years software engineering experience
- Refined ability to present and demo your work so others can understand it
- Robust experience working in a full-stack environment where the backend is strongly typed (we use golang)
- Experience in browser tech (HTML, CSS, JavaScript)
- Desire to build end-to-end, from business logic to presentation (we use HTMX/templ)
- Comfort with container technology (Docker or similar)
- Heads-up awareness of production applications with effective monitoring, logging, and observability of the full application stack
- Confidence and ability to provide supportive and critical feedback in PR reviews to make the code better for everyone
- Enthusiasm for writing efficient tests that produce tight feedback loops
- Passion to take ownership, collaborate, and solve problems for real, everyday people
- Technical and cultural leader who encourages these traits in the people around them
- Bachelor’s degree or similar experience strongly preferred
- Occasional travel may be required from time to time as part of the role, for company events and business needs
- Soda Health is a remote-first, distributed workforce. Candidates should be comfortable with, and equipped to work within, a distributed remote team, including having reliable internet access and basic home office equipment. Soda Health will provide a really nice work laptop, and mouse/keyboard upon request

- As a Soda Health Senior Full-Stack Engineer you'll design, implement, and refine exciting, innovative digital products

- Participate in a healthy production culture (including sane, balanced on-call)

Our take
Between 80% and 90% of a person’s health is determined by environmental and behavioral factors. These Social Determinants of Health (or SDOH) are what Soda Health aims to address, setting out to create more equitable styles of health benefit and ensure better health across social borders.
It works by changing the way health benefits are claimed, offering members a sort of pay-as-you-go benefits credit card. What's covered here are things not traditionally included among health benefits which are impacted by wealth inequity - ability to buy nutritional foods or over-the-counter medicines, and limited access to transport for healthcare appointments.
It’s an interesting model, and not one which has many directly comparable competitors. But the concept of HealthTech for SDOH is an overcrowded market, and Soda Health must be sure to stand out against larger start-ups like Unite Us or Cityblock.
