What the job involves
- The Corporate Staff Accountant will have the opportunity to work cross-functionally with the multiple finance teams including Accounts Payable, Project and Cost Accounting, and FP&A, assisting on a broad range of projects and deliverables
- Complete month-end close procedures that support both corporate and project accounting operations
- Analyze monthly general ledger reclasses and accruals for month -end and assist FP&A with budget to actual analysis for operating expenses
- Prepare journal entries to be posted to the ERP system
- Perform fixed asset analysis to capitalize and depreciate assets monthly
- Assist with month-end reporting procedures and prepare balance sheet reconciliations
- Participate in the monthly financial reporting and analysis
- Collaborate with the Accounting and Finance Team Leads on different ad-hoc projects including implementing procedures, building, and utilizing financial analysis
- Support the Cost Accounting team with inventory reconciliations and management
- Review purchase requisitions to ensure accuracy regarding coding to the general ledger

Founded as Alert Innovation, the company has partnered with Walmart from the start, meaning it was no surprise when the retail giant acquired it in 2022.
The company's goal is to use robotics to replace labor-intensive processes, for example the gathering of requested items in fulfilment centers. Its Alphabot hybrid warehouse system provides automated picking that works alongside human workers, with robots retrieving items and delivering them to a picking station where workers can efficiently prepare the customer orders.
With such a unique position as a division of a major retailer, Walmart Advanced Systems & Robotics should benefit from insight into the fulfilment issues that will most benefit from robotics automation. With more projects in development, it will be interesting see what it tackles next in grocery supply chain automation or beyond.
